Delhi Police Bust Gang Handling Stolen High-End Phones

New Delhi, Jul 4 (PTI) — Delhi Police have busted a gang involved in handling stolen high-end mobile phones, uncovering 44 allegedly stolen devices, including 43 Apple iPhones and a Samsung Fold phone, during a raid in the Dev Nagar area of Karol Bagh, as reported by an official on Friday.

The operation seized a snatched iPhone 15 linked to a recent robbery incident in the IP Estate area, according to police sources.

The suspects, Navdeep Kaur (26) and Ramandeep Bhangu (33), moved to Delhi seeking better financial prospects but turned to crime following financial hardships in their mobile repair venture.

Navdeep Kaur, a B.Sc graduate and mobile repair technician from Bhatinda, Punjab, was identified as partnering to receive stolen mobiles, dismantle them, and sell the parts in the gray market, an officer stated.

The case unfolded after a snatching incident in the IP Estate area was reported on June 24.

Police traced the snatched iPhone 15's location to Dev Nagar, prompting a raid on June 26.

Kaur was apprehended at her home, with the stolen iPhone and 44 other allegedly stolen mobiles, along with many dismantled iPhone parts, recovered.

Kaur confessed during interrogation to the involvement of accomplices Sanjeev Kumar, currently absconding, and Ramandeep Bhangu, later arrested from Nahan, Himachal Pradesh, while attempting to flee to Nepal.

Bhangu confessed to buying stolen phones from a woman in Karol Bagh, disassembling the devices, and selling the parts to repair shops.

Police confirmed the operation of an organized network dealing in stolen devices, as 11 recovered phones matched different FIRs throughout the city.

The dismantled recovered parts are suspected to originate from other stolen iPhones, and a further investigation is ongoing, noted the officer.

Bhangu, having a criminal record, was previously arrested in a related case in Punjab's Bhatinda, where around 70 stolen phones were recovered.

Authorities are working to identify the woman supplying the stolen devices and apprehend Sanjeev Kumar.

Further investigations are ongoing, police concluded.
