Delhi High Court Grants Bail in Parliament Breach Case

New Delhi, July 2 (PTI): The Delhi High Court, on Wednesday, has granted bail to two individuals accused in the December 2023 Parliament security breach case.

A bench comprising Justices Subramonium Prasad and Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar extended relief to Neelam Azad and Mahesh Kumawat, requiring a personal bond of Rs 50,000 each alongside two sureties of the same amount.

The court also instructed the accused to refrain from giving media interviews or making social media postings regarding the incident.

The accused had previously contested a trial court decision that rejected their bail applications.

The security breach, occurring on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack, involved accused Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D, who reportedly jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour. They allegedly released yellow gas from canisters and shouted slogans before being subdued by some MPs.

Simultaneously, two other accused, Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad, are alleged to have sprayed colored gas from canisters, shouting slogans of "tanashahi nahi chalegi (dictatorship won't work)" outside the Parliament premises.
