Bengaluru, Jun 10 (PTI) - The Karnataka High Court has rescheduled the hearing to June 12 concerning the petition it initiated following the tragic stampede at Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4.

The incident, which occurred during celebrations for Royal Challenger Bengaluru's (RCB) first IPL victory last week, resulted in the loss of eleven lives.

In the proceedings on Tuesday, the court instructed Advocate General Shashi Kiran Shetty to submit a reply in a sealed cover. During the hearing, Advocate General Shetty stated that the reply had not yet been filed.

He informed the court that a judicial commission has been appointed with a one-month deadline to produce a report. Additionally, several police officers involved have been suspended.

Shetty requested to submit details in a sealed envelope, highlighting that statements from the case were being used in concurrent bail petitions involving the accused. The case, initiated suo motu by the court, was heard by Acting Chief Justice V Kameshwar Rao and Justice C M Joshi.

A former member of the Legislative Council requested to be added to the petition party. In parallel, a lawyer indicated plans to file a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) related to the stampede.
