China military aggression: PM Modi, Japan PM Kishida discuss Ladakh; talks on Ukraine - Russia war

During Japanese Prime Minister's first visit to India, the two sides discussed China and its territorial expansion attempts. The Indian government said that it briefed Japan's leader about the situation in Ladakh, China's military aggression, and the ongoing military-level talks.

Japan is also involved in a territorial dispute with China over the Senkaku islands. China's aggression in the South China Sea is also a matter of concern for countries in the neighbourhood.

PM Modi and Kishida also discussed the ongoing war in Ukraine. While India has abstained from voting against Russia at the United Nations, Japan has placed sanctions on Russia for its military invasion of Ukraine.

India and Japan are members of the Quad along with the US and Australia, both of which are staunch critics of Moscow.
