Chandrababu Naidu Endorses GST Reforms as Pro-Poor and Growth-Oriented

Amaravati, Sep 4 (PTI) — Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has expressed his approval for the recent GST reforms, highlighting them as a significant "pro-poor and growth-oriented decision." He emphasized that these changes would benefit all societal segments.

The GST Council, during its meeting on Wednesday, carried out a comprehensive revision of the goods and services tax framework. Taxes on numerous essential items such as hair oil, corn flakes, and personal health and life insurance policies, among others, were reduced.

Naidu expressed his support for the restructured GST slabs on essentials including daily necessities, education, healthcare, and agriculture. “This pro-poor, growth-oriented decision will benefit all sections of society, from farmers to businesses,” he remarked in a post on X.

He extended his congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for initiating this "transformative step."

Naidu further remarked that, as announced by PM Modi on Independence Day, these next-generation GST reforms signify a strategic, citizen-centric advancement in India's tax framework. This move aims to enhance the quality of life for every Indian.
