Centre approves ammo storage in Ladakh amid India-China tensions

The Centre's wildlife panel has approved the establishment of ammunition storage facilities in East Ladakh to enhance military readiness amid ongoing India-China tensions. The new facilities, set to be located at strategic points like Hanle and Photi La near the Line of Actual Control (LAC), address logistical challenges faced by existing storage sites over 250 km away. This move aims to improve operational efficiency and secure a steady supply of ammunition for forward deployments.

The approval paves the way for the creation of Formation Ammunition Storage Facilities (FASF) and underground caverns, crucial for bolstering India's military capabilities. This initiative is part of India's broader strategy to strengthen its security posture in Eastern Ladakh, ensuring forces are well-prepared to handle potential conflicts along the border.
