CBI arrests Navy commander, 2 retired officers for allegedly leaking classified submarine info

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Naval officer and two retired officers for allegedly leaking confidential information on the upgrade of the Navy's Kilo class submarines.

The Mumbai-based serving officer is accused of sharing the classified information and holds the rank of Commander. Reports in multiple news-websites said the officer was passing information to two retired officers based in Delhi.

The Navy said in a statement that an internal inquiry is also being carried out with source-based reports saying that matter is being investigated by a Vice-Admiral and a Rear Admiral.

Kilo class submarines, designed and built in the Soviet Union for the Soviet Navy, are among the world's most common conventional submarines and are currently in service in the navies of several countries.
