Blast at Narendra Modi's rally in 2013: 4 convicts get death sentence

A special NIA Court in Patna on Monday pronounced quantum of punishment for 9 convicts in the 2013 blasts at PM candidate Narendra Modi's rally in Patna.

The court has handed death sentence to four convicts, while two have been given life imprisonment,.two others have been given 10 year jail term and one convict has been sentenced to 7 year jail.
Blasts had occurred at venue of then PM candidate Narendra Modi’s rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. The serial blasts had left six dead and scores injured.

Those who were pronounced guilty are Imtiaz Ansari, Mujibullah, Haider Ali, Firoz Aslam, Omar Ansari, Iftekhar, Ahmed Husain, Umair Siddiqui and Azharuddin. The court acquitted Fakhruddin.

Although no terror outfit claimed responsibility for the serial blasts, the involvement of SIMI and its new avatar, the Indian Mujahideen, have been suspected.
