BJP Video Controversy in Gonda Detailed

Gonda's BJP president faces scrutiny over a viral video, with a complaint lodged by a woman involved, alleging political framing. Police are investigating claims of video distortion.

BJP Video Controversy in Gonda Detailed

Gonda, UP, May 26 (PTI): The controversy involving a video allegedly depicting inappropriate behavior by BJP Gonda district president, Amar Kishore Kashyap, took a new twist on Monday, following a police complaint filed by the woman featured in the footage.

She alleged that the video was deliberately misrepresented as part of a political conspiracy.

According to the police, the complaint was lodged at Chhapia police station against unknown individuals accused of distorting and circulating the video to defame both her and Kashyap.

The woman emphasized that Kashyap holds the position of an elder brother to her, stressing the absence of any inappropriate relationship.

Chhapia Station House Officer (SHO) Sanjeev Verma reported that a case has been registered, and an investigation is currently underway.

The FIR outlines that on April 12, during her return journey from Lucknow, the woman began feeling unwell and dizzy, prompting her to contact Kashyap.

Kashyap picked her up from the railway station and took her to the BJP office. Clad in high-heeled sandals, the woman slipped while climbing the stairs, and as Kashyap was behind her, he caught her to prevent a fall.

The woman asserts that the viral video captures this moment out of context, misrepresenting it in an indecent fashion.

She has issued a warning that should the smear campaign persist, she will pursue a defamation case in court and consider approaching the State Women's Commission.

The said video, circulating on social media for the past couple of days, ostensibly portrays BJP district president Kashyap in an inappropriate interaction with a woman party worker at the party office.

An internal party member reportedly recorded and disseminated the video, forwarding it to senior party leadership with a demand for investigation and resolution.

In response to the burgeoning controversy, BJP's state general secretary, Govind Narayan Shukla, has sent a show-cause notice to Kashyap, awaiting his explanation.
