BJP Demands Resignation of Karnataka CM After Stampede Tragedy

The BJP has urged Karnataka's CM and Deputy CM to resign after a stampede in Bengaluru caused 11 deaths and 33 injuries. Criticizing the Congress government, BJP's Sambit Patra challenged Rahul Gandhi to take action and hold the government accountable.

BJP Demands Resignation of Karnataka CM After Stampede Tragedy

New Delhi, Jun 5 (PTI) — The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar. The party holds the Congress-led state government accountable for the tragic stampede incident in Bengaluru.

The unfortunate event resulted in the deaths of eleven people, with an additional thirty-three individuals sustaining injuries. The stampede transpired near the Chinnaswamy Stadium, where thousands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans had gathered to witness the team following their maiden IPL victory.

BJP Member of Parliament and national spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that the incident was a "government-manufactured stampede." He also called upon Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to address the tragedy. "This is clearly the failure of the state government. The state government must accept its failure," Patra stated. The chief minister and the deputy chief minister should resign owing to the deaths of 11 innocent people and those injured in this incident.

Criticizing the Congress government in Karnataka, Patra questioned, "Where is Rahul Gandhi, who often criticizes India, the Prime Minister, and the Army under his claim of democratic rights?" He further urged, "Where is he hiding? Will Rahul Gandhi confront D K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah regarding their social media posts on this issue and call them to Delhi? Will he demand their resignations?"

"We await his response," Patra added. "We hope Rahul Gandhi, you will address this situation and take necessary actions since you influence the government in Karnataka."
