BJP condemns Congress over AI video showing PM Modi serving tea at red-carpet event

A political controversy erupted after Congress leader Ragini Nayak shared an AI-generated video depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi selling tea at what appeared to be a red-carpet event.

The video, posted on X with the caption, "Now, who did this?", shows the Prime Minister in a light blue coat and black trousers, carrying a kettle and tea glasses. International flags and the Tricolour are visible in the background. A voice, mimicking PM Modi, can be heard saying, “Chai bolo, chaiye (Anyone wants tea).”

The BJP quickly condemned the video, accusing the Congress of abusing the Prime Minister.

Party spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla on Wednesday described the post as another example of Congress’s “elitist mindset” toward PM Modi’s humble origins.

“After Renuka Choudhary insults Parliament & Sena, now Ragini Nayak attacks and mocks PM Modi’s chaiwala background,” Poonawalla wrote in an X post.

He added, “Naamdar Congress cannot stand a Kamdar PM from OBC community who has come from a poor background.”

Poonawalla alleged that Congress leaders have a history of belittling the Prime Minister. “They mocked his chaiwala background earlier, too. They abused him 150 times. They abused his mother in Bihar. People will never forgive them,” he said.

The incident has intensified the ongoing political debate over PM Modi’s early life and the narrative of his rise from modest beginnings. The BJP’s criticism underscores a continued focus on perceived disrespect from opposition parties toward the Prime Minister.
