Bengaluru medical student scores 315 out 300, university issues fresh results

Students at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences were pleasantly surprised after some students scored higher than the highest possible grade. Their sense of overachievement was soon doused. The university had mistakenly added some internal assessment marks to the final tally, giving two students a score of 310 and even 315 out of 300. The university has now issued the rectified marksheet.

The scoring error was seen in the second-semester BSc nursing exam at the prestigious Bengaluru institution. “As soon as this was brought to our notice, the scorecards were withdrawn and corrected. New marks have been issued,” a senior university official said, as per Times of India.

Some students also lost marks after getting the updated result. “While a student had 275 marks, it dropped to 227 overnight. The grade had thankfully remained the same. Nevertheless, it was a big disappointment,” a parent told the outlet.

The university’s registrar of evaluation said the error was linked to a shift in their semester patterns. “This is the first time that we are moving from an annual system to a semester system. So there were some changes,” he said.
