Bangladeshi Deported from Delhi Returns Illegally in a Month

New Delhi, Jul 1 (PTI) - In a remarkable turn of events, a Bangladeshi national, who was among the 300 illegal immigrants deported to Bangladesh via Tripura from the Hindon Airbase, has managed to return to the same area in northwest Delhi in less than a month, officials disclosed on Tuesday.

The individual, identified as Suhan Khan, a 30-year-old transgender who makes a living by begging in Shalimar Bagh, was detained on June 30 alongside six others for illegal residency, according to an official.

A senior police officer noted that Suhan was first apprehended by authorities on May 15 in northwest Delhi and subsequently handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer.

Police sources revealed that she was part of a group sent to Agartala on a flight in early June.

The group was deported across the land border to Bangladesh via Tripura. However, Suhan allegedly faked being intellectually challenged and lingered near the border area for a few days. She then took advantage of the porous borders to re-enter India under the cover of darkness, a source explained.

Suhan reportedly traveled from Agartala to Anand Vihar Railway Station in Delhi before returning to her previous locality.

"On June 30, Suhan and six others were caught. We seized three smartphones that had a banned messaging app, which they used to communicate with their families in Bangladesh," stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Bhisham Singh.

During questioning, it was revealed that the claims of Suhan and four other transgenders caught begging in Shalimar Bagh of being Indian nationals were false.

A man and a woman, also staying illegally in India, were apprehended from the same locality during early morning inspections, the DCP further stated.
