Atishi Criticizes BJP for Allegedly Fabricated Cases Against AAP Leaders

Atishi Criticizes BJP for Allegedly Fabricated Cases Against AAP Leaders

New Delhi, Jun 20 (PTI): In a scathing critique, AAP leader Atishi has accused the BJP administrations at the Centre and in Delhi of a protracted, decade-long campaign of political vendetta featuring over 200 allegedly fabricated cases against leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Atishi's comments surfaced as former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia faced questioning by the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) over suspected graft linked to the construction of classrooms in Delhi government schools.

Speaking at a press conference, Atishi declared, "In the past decade, BJP's Enforcement Directorate (ED), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Income Tax Department, and Delhi police have pressed more than 200 false cases against AAP leaders, yet not a single rupee has been recovered." She referenced the Supreme Court's earlier observations describing central investigative bodies as "caged parrots" during the bail hearing of AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, arguing these remarks underscore the political misuse of such institutions.

Satyendar Jain, another AAP leader, also appeared before the agency on June 6 regarding the same matter.

Atishi accused the BJP of engaging in diversionary tactics to obscure shortcomings in their governance.

"Delhi is plagued by extended power outages and water shortages at home, and roads that remain waterlogged. Instead of addressing these issues, the BJP is preoccupied with orchestrating sham cases to mislead the populace," Atishi asserted.

She also alleged that the BJP is collaborating with the "education mafia" to close down government schools in favor of private institutions.

"They aim to close Delhi's government schools under the pretext of non-existent scams. Headlines alone don't substantiate claims of corruption," she contended.

The BJP has yet to issue a response to these allegations.

Criticizing Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Atishi questioned, "Apart from repainting mohalla clinics and rebranding them as health temples, what has she truly delivered to the citizens of Delhi?"
