Assam to close govt schools with bad performance, Kejriwal invites CM Sarma to visit Delhi

Delhi CM Arvind Kejirwal urged Assam CM to work unitedly so as to make India the number 1 country in the world, a euphemism from his recently launched 'Make India No. 1 campaign.

Assam to close govt schools with bad performance, Kejriwal invites CM Sarma to visit Delhi

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday invited Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma to visit the national capital and see the work of Delhi government in education sector.

The 'invitation' has popped up amid a Twitter spat between the two leaders after Kejriwal made a suggestion to Assam CM over his announcement to shut schools with abysmal performance by students in class 10 exams. The state has reportedly shortlisted 34 schools after all students failed the exam

The AAP leader urged his counterpart not to shut schools and instead focus on improving the quality of education in the state.

Sarma retorted saying that Assam govt has established/ taken over 8610 new schools, and went on asking Kejriwal about the number of schools by Delhi government in the last 7 years.

Kejriwal also asked Sarma to work unitedly so as to make India the number 1 country in the world, a euphemism from his recently launched 'Make India Number 1 campaign.

Recently, Delhi's schools made it to US daily 'The New York Times', which has hailed Delhi government's education model and lauded its efforts in the education sector.

Both Kejriwal and Sarma, in the past too, have been engaged in war of words. In June this year, Delhi government had levelled corruption allegations against Himanta saying that PPE kit contract was deliberately given to a firm that has former's wife as a partner. The Assam CM countered saying the PPE kits were donated by his wife's company under its corporate social responsibility.
