Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, while celebrating the 79th Independence Day at Indira Gandhi Park, emphasized India's stalwart stance against terrorism, highlighted by the successes of Operation Sindoor and Operation Mahadev.

Khandu, during his address, reiterated the government's commitment to safeguarding its citizens and borders, invoking Mahatma Gandhi's legacy and declaring India's intolerance towards attacks on innocent civilians.

He noted India's significant progress on the global stage, citing its position as the fourth largest economy and its influential voice in international platforms, particularly as the leader of the Global South.

Reflecting on Independence Day's importance, Khandu remarked that the spirit of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' should resonate throughout Arunachal Pradesh, from Tawang's peaks to Tirap's valleys.

Emphasizing Arunachal Pradesh's role in India's global ambitions, Khandu called for a blend of preserving indigenous traditions with modern advancements, indicating that every developmental milestone contributes to a self-reliant state.

The chief minister highlighted the Vibrant Village Programme, which includes a Rs 2,205 crore investment to build 1,046 kilometers of road connecting 125 border villages, enhancing connectivity and strategic infrastructure at the Indo-Myanmar and Indo-Bhutan borders.

Advancements in healthcare are also notable, with modern hospitals and cashless health coverage extended to over two lakh families. The Chief Minister Organ Transplant Scheme exemplifies the state’s commitment to healthcare, providing substantial financial aid for transplant surgeries.

Khandu outlined five commitments to foster a 'Viksit Arunachal': enhancing education, transforming agriculture, promoting sustainable development, leveraging green energy, and developing tourism.

Addressing concerns regarding the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project, Khandu assured continued consultations with local communities, acknowledging its strategic importance and the concerns of the Adi people.

He concluded by urging citizens to pledge towards cleanliness, environmental respect, local trade, digital readiness, and law and order maintenance.
