Sanjay Raut Demands Apology from Fadnavis over Disha Salian Case Remarks

Mumbai, Jul 3 (PTI) - Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut called for Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and minister Nitesh Rane to publicly apologize for past remarks about Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray related to the Disha Salian case.

State Minister of Home Affairs, Yogesh Kadam, stated that a "no closure report" had been submitted in the case, with investigations still ongoing.

The case around former celebrity manager Disha Salian's death, who fell from the 14th floor of a building in Malad, Mumbai, on June 8, 2020, initially had an Accidental Death Report (ADR) registered by the city police.

In an affidavit to the Bombay High Court last month, police declared Salian's death a suicide without signs of foul play, in contrast to her father, Satish Salian's claim of gang rape and murder.

In March, Satish Salian petitioned the HC for a CBI probe into his daughter's death and sought an FIR against Aaditya Thackeray.

Raut emphasized the police report cleared Aaditya Thackeray, stating, "Misusing power for defamation and humiliation must lead to an apology," urging apologies from CM Fadnavis and Nitesh Rane to Thackeray and Maharashtra citizens.

Raut asserted, "Public apologies are warranted for baseless allegations, and those seeking political leverage through defamation will ultimately face consequences."

Home department is led by CM Fadnavis.

Regarding police testimony, MoS for Home Yogesh Kadam reaffirmed, "Investigation continues, with no closure report filed yet."

NCP (SP) MLA Rohit Pawar defended Sena (UBT) leader, admonishing BJP leaders and Eknath Shinde's Sena faction ministers for allegations targeting Aaditya Thackeray with derogatory language.

Conversing with reporters at the Vidhan Bhavan complex, Pawar urged governmental action to counteract "deliberate misinformation for political gain."

BJP leader and ex-state minister Sudhir Mungantiwar defended government and law enforcement, stating, "Governments do not influence investigative bodies. Police base their work on facts and evidence. Opposition leaders may possess misguided views of the state government, which will, hopefully, change in time."

After Satish Salian's March HC petition, Nitesh Rane had called for action against Aaditya Thackeray, suggesting he resign.
