Landslide cuts off road connecting Arunachal Pradesh's Dibang Valley near China border

The only road connecting to Arunachal Pradesh's Dibang Valley was cut off following a landslide caused by heavy rainfall on April 24. The valley also shares its border with China.

The landslide has also caused extensive damage to the National Highway-33 connecting Hunli and Anini.

Chief Minister Pema Kandu on April 25 said that instructions have been issued to restore the connectivity at the earliest.

"Disturbed to learn the inconvenience being caused to commuters due to the extensive damage to the highway between Hunli and Anini. Instructions have been issued to restore the connectivity at the earliest as this road connects Dibang Valley to the rest of the country," he said on X.

So far, no casualties have been reported even as the district administration has advised people to avoid landslide-prone areas amid heavy rainfall.
