New Delhi, Jun 30 (PTI) - An English rendition of the popular Telugu novel "Amma Dairylo Konni Pageelu" by esteemed author Ravi Mantri is set to be released later this year, as announced by Penguin Random House India (PRHI) on Monday. The translated novel, titled "Amma's Diary," will bring the best-selling story to a broader audience.

Initially published in Telugu by Aju Publications, a branch of Sapien Stories Pvt. Ltd., the book quickly captured readers' attention, selling nearly two lakh copies within its debut year. It offers a glimpse into the unseen inner worlds of women known as 'Amma'.

"Amma Diarylo Konni Pageelu," a beloved love story about characters Sarika and Ram, will soon enchant readers across the country. Mantri expressed his excitement for this transformation, allowing readers to experience the novel's magic in the universal language of English. "From the hearts of the Telugu states to the hearts of the nation," he said in a statement.

At its essence, "Amma's Diary" serves as a tribute to untold lives. In cultures that frequently celebrate the exploits of young men while concealing women's histories, Mantri's narrative asks: "What if we dared to read the pages of our mothers’ forgotten stories?" This perspective challenges readers to view women not merely as silent supporters within homes but as unique individuals defined by their desires, heartbreaks, and renewed hopes.

The narrative unfolds through the quiet voice of Sarika, whose long-lost love is rediscovered by the subsequent generation. "Amma's Diary" captures this rediscovery as a testament to time, memory, and the enduring influence of choices made and unmade.

Milee Ashwarya, PRHI’s publisher, praised the work, stating, "‘Amma's Diary' is a poignant and beautifully written narrative that captures the essence of human emotions, relationships, and experiences. We are thrilled to share this remarkable work with our readers and welcome Ravi Mantri into the Penguin Random House India family."
