'Allow 2nd booster dose in India': doctors to Health Minister amid Covid alert

Amid the Indian government's efforts to prepare for any possible spike in Covid cases, the Union Health Minister was advised by doctors to allow people to take their second booster dose.

Minister Mansukh Mandaviya held a virtual meeting with the Indian Medical Association, and other top doctors and public health experts on 26 December 2022.

Participants reportedly urged the government to allow another booster dose, especially for healthcare and frontline workers, since the third dose cycle began a year ago.

Meanwhile, hospitals across the country will hold mock drills on 27 December to prepare doctors, nurses and paramedics to deal with any possible Covid emergency. The government has stepped up preparatory measures since a severe surge of cases hit China, and a few other countries.
