Mumbai, Jun 13 (PTI) At least 10 individuals from Maharashtra, including one pilot and crew members, were among those on the tragic Air India flight to London that crashed in Ahmedabad, officials reported Friday.

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, designated as flight AI171, was carrying 230 passengers along with 12 crew members. It tragically crashed into a medical college complex just after departure from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad on Thursday afternoon.

Of the total 242 onboard, only one survived, while 241 lost their lives. Among the deceased, 10 hailed from Maharashtra, an official confirmed.

Captain Sumeet Pushkaraj Sabharwal, aged 56, was piloting the aircraft. A resident of Jal Vayu Vihar in Mumbai's Powai area, he lived with his aging parents.

First Officer Clive Kunder, the co-pilot, resided in Mumbai's western suburbs, as noted on his social media profiles.

Deepak Pathak, a cabin crew member, lived in Badlapur, which is in the Thane district nearby. His sister mentioned that he had spoken with their mother before departing for London and had been an Air India employee for 11 years.

Maithili Patil, aged 23, another crew member, was from Nhava village in Navi Mumbai. Patil had been with Air India for two years. Her father, Moreshwar Patil, works as a labor contractor with ONGC. She had reportedly promised her father a call upon landing in London, according to Nhava's former sarpanch.

Another crew member, Aparna Mahadik, aged 43, lived in Goregaon in the western suburbs, and her husband also serves as an Air India crew member. She was related to NCP leader Sunil Tatkare.

Hailing from Dombivli and Juhu Koliwada respectively, crew members Roshni Rajendra Songhare and Saineeta Chakravarti also lost their lives. Songhare, who was also a travel influencer, had amassed over 54,000 followers on Instagram.

Among the passengers, Mahadev Pawar, 68, and his wife Asha, 60, were from Hatid village in Solapur district's Sangola. They had relocated to Gujarat 15 years ago and were traveling to London to visit their son.

Yasha Kamdar Modha, 32, daughter of Nagpur businessman Manish Kamdar, was on board with her son Rudra and mother-in-law Rakshaben. Tragically, all three perished in the crash.
