AAP MLA Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal Passes Away at 66

Amritsar, Jun 27 (PTI) - Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal, the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Tarn Taran, passed away at the age of 66 at a hospital here on Friday. He had been battling cancer for more than three years.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann expressed his condolences over the passing of his party's legislator. Mann shared on X that he was deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Dr. Kashmir Singh Sohal, praising him as a hardworking and dedicated leader.

"My heartfelt condolences to his family... May God grant peace to the departed soul and give courage to the family and loved ones in this difficult time," Mann stated in his post.

Before entering politics, Sohal had a reputable career as an eye specialist in the Health Department. Upon his retirement, he continued his service by treating patients free of cost.

In Tarn Taran, he was not only a political figure but was also recognized as a social reformer, sports promoter, and environmentalist.

Dr. Sohal is survived by his wife and two children: a son and a daughter; both are doctors by profession. He was first elected as an MLA from the Tarn Taran constituency during the Punjab Assembly elections in 2022, having joined AAP just two years prior.
