The advisory, issued in the interest of national security, applies across both subscription-based and free-to-access platforms.
 The directive comes against the backdrop of escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan, following Operation Sindoor, which is India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, and the shelling by Pakistan at the Line of Control.&nbsp;
&ldquo;In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription based model or otherwise, having its origins in Pakistan with immediate effect,&rdquo; the ministry said in a statement.

Prior to content restrictions, Indian digital platforms have also restricted access to the social media handles of several Pakistani celebrities. Users in India have reported that verified profiles of actors, singers, and public figures from Pakistan are no longer accessible on platforms including Instagram, X, and YouTube.

Karachi Bakery promoters Rajesh Ramnani and Harish Ramnani said the brand Karachi Bakery was established in Hyderabad in 1953 by their grandfather Khanchand Ramnani, who migrated to India (from Pakistan) during partition.
Referring to the recent protest by a group in Visakhapatnam demanding that Karachi Bakery change its name, the owners said that people are protesting as it is named after a city in Pakistan, but the reality is that it is a Hyderabad brand from India.
"The brand was named Karachi Bakery by our grandfather as he came to India after partition. We request the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the DGP, and the Police Commissioner to support us to prevent any change in the name," Karachi Bakery owners told PTI Videos.
They further said tricolor was displayed above the signboards of their outlets in the city.
Meanwhile, a police official said police personnel were deployed near one of its branches here on Wednesday as a preventive measure after the leader of a right-wing organisation in a social media post put up a video demanding that Karachi Bakery change its name or they would change it.
No protest was held and no complaint was also lodged, he clarified.

&ldquo;Take, for instance, the pre-matric scholarship for Scheduled Caste students&mdash;it provides just Rs 150 (a month). That amount hardly covers any real educational expenses. We are working on increasing such allocations so students can truly benefit,&rdquo; the official said.
The review extends beyond scholarships. Schemes tied to cooperative industrial units, tractor distribution, entrepreneurship promotion, and various development corporations under the department are also being reassessed to ensure their continued relevance and effectiveness.
When asked about the financial implications of this expansion, the official said, &ldquo;Our budget for 2025-26 has increased significantly&mdash;from Rs 15,893 crore last year to Rs 22,658 crore now. This Rs 6,765 crore boost allows us to support more beneficiaries and improve the financial assistance offered under key schemes.&rdquo; On whether the department could generate revenue like a few others in the state, the official said, &ldquo;The Social Justice Department is a welfare-oriented body. We do not have, nor should we be expected to have, revenue-generating mechanisms. Our role is to serve the underprivileged.&rdquo; The official also said that a big chunk of the increased budget, about Rs 3,960 crore of the Rs 6,765 crore, will be transferred to the Women and Child Development Department to support the &lsquo;Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana.&rsquo;
&ldquo;This money is specifically meant for Scheduled Caste women beneficiaries of the scheme, but the disbursement is routed through the WCD Department. It is our way of ensuring eligible women receive their monthly Rs 1,500 assistance,&rdquo; the official explained.

Kundal also visited the district hospital to inquire about those injured in the shelling and admitted to the facility.
During his visit, the deputy commissioner interacted with the injured and expressed his heartfelt solidarity with the bereaved family members.
He assured them of comprehensive support and assistance from the administration amid this challenging time.
In a directive to the medical staff, Kundal emphasised the importance of providing the best possible treatment to the injured.
He also visited the blood bank to review the availability of blood and directed the staff there to ensure an adequate and uninterrupted supply to meet any emergency needs.
Later, the deputy commissioner visited the Government Polytechnic College Sathra, one of the nine designated shelter camps for the border residents of Mandi tehsil.
All necessary facilities, including food, power, water and sanitation, have been made available at the shelter camps, he said.
The deputy commissioner also convened a meeting to review the status of essential services and initiate measures to expedite the restoration of critical supply chains across this border district.
He directed the jal shakti and power development departments to ensure the restoration of water and electricity supplies within two hours in all affected areas, while the consumer affairs and public distribution department was asked to take immediate measures to ensure adequate and uninterrupted supply of ration, particularly in areas along the Line of Control (LoC).
The district administration is closely monitoring the situation and remains committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of all citizens, Kundal said.

The judge, however, said, "Since the notice has purportedly been served upon an alternative email ID upon the proposed accused 4 (Sam Pitroda) only today, it is appropriate that submissions on the aspect of cognisance are heard on the next date of hearing." The judge posted the hearings on May 21 and 22.
"Subramanian Swamy, who is the complainant in the proceedings relating to the predicate offence, has mentioned his presence and submitted that an application for being supplied with a copy of the present complaint and documents shall be moved by him in due course," the court added.
On May 2, the court issued notices to the Gandhis.
It also issued notice to Congress leader Pitroda and Suman Dubey, and "Young Indian", Dotex Merchandise Pvt Ltd and Sunil Bhandari.
The judge said that their "right to be heard" was available at the time of cognisance of the chargesheet.
"Right to be heard at any stage breathes life into fair trial," the judge had previously said.
The chargesheet in the matter was filed under Sections 3 (money laundering) and 4 (punishment for money laundering) of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The ED, which filed its chargesheet recently, began its probe in 2021 after a magistrate court took cognisance of a private complaint filed by Swamy on June 26, 2014.
The complaint, the ED said, highlighted a "criminal conspiracy" by several prominent political figures, including the first family of the Congress party led by Sonia, her MP son Rahul, late Congress leaders Motilal Vora and Oscar Fernandes aside from Dubey, Pitroda and a private company Young Indian for their alleged involvement in money laundering in relation to the fraudulent takeover of properties valued over Rs 2,000 crore belonging to the Associated Journals Limited.
The Gandhis are majority shareholders of Young Indian, with 38 per cent shares held by each one of them. They were questioned for hours by the ED in this case a few years ago.

Speaking to reporters here, Parameshwara said, "We have some special forces like Karnataka State Industrial Security Force. We deploy them for safeguarding major installations like in Raichur (thermal power station), Kaiga (nuclear power plant), and Krishna Raja Sagara Dam. They are all well trained and have received commando training." In response to a question whether the state has enough personnel in such forces, he said, "The available force was deployed. There is a requirement from them for additional strength. If we start requirement, it will take a year for training and other things; that process will go on continuously." An advisory from the union government asked us to conduct mock drills at three places they mentioned and they have given a format for the drills too, Parameshwara said adding that they conducted a drill accordingly in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
"It will be held in various other places today, tomorrow and day after. The Centre has selected Karwar and Raichur to conduct the drills in addition to Bengaluru. We have included Mysuru in the list based on intelligent inputs and other reasons,"

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh told an all-party meeting on Thursday that at least 100 hardcore terrorists and their associates were killed in Indian strikes on terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under the ongoing Operation Sindoor, sources said.
The meeting saw opposition parties backing the government in the military action and hailing the armed forces, as leaders across the political spectrum projected a united front amid heightened tensions between the two neighbouring countries.
Chairing the meeting, Singh, in his briefing and then responding to points raised by the leaders of different parties, said India does not want escalation but will give a befitting reply to Pakistan if attacked, the sources added.
"In the moment of crisis, we are with the government," Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge told reporters after the meeting, a view reiterated by his party colleague and Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and echoed by several other opposition leaders.
Singh noted that it is a emerging and evolving situation, declining to get into the details of the continuing Indian operation.
Kharge said, "The defence minister said this is a sensitive time and in the interest of the country, detailed questions are not to be asked as they pertain to defence secrets." The Congress chief, though, conveyed his disappointment over Prime Minister Narendra Modi not attending the all-party meeting.
A number of opposition leaders, the sources said, referred to the Pakistani claim of downing Indian fighter jets and wondered if the government needed to counter such propaganda.
Gandhi and John Brittas of the CPI(M) suggested that a special session of Parliament should be convened, saying it would send out a message of united national resolve.
Singh said at least 100 people, including hardcore terrorists and their associates, were killed in the Indian strikes. A source quoted him as saying, "It is difficult to give an exact estimate as the operation is still ongoing and we are collating the details. India will give a befitting reply if Pakistan attacks." The operation has achieved its intended objectives, the defence minister added.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said, "The discussions were conducted in a constructive and serious manner given the gravity of the issue at hand. The defence minister briefed all leaders in detail about Operation Sindoor. Each leader expressed their views with responsibility and maturity, recognising the major challenge the country is currently facing." "Across party lines, political leaders said there is no place for politics in such critical times. All leaders unanimously congratulated our armed forces on the success of Operation Sindoor and assured their full support to the government, with no dissent whatsoever," he added.
The leaders shared their concerns on the issue of national security and the safety of all Indians, especially in border areas, but extended their support, Rijiju said. He quoted Singh as having said, "We do not do politics just for forming governments but also to build the nation." Leaders from all political parties, including the Congress, AIMIM, Trinamool Congress (TMC), DMK, BJD and Janata Dal (United), extended full cooperation to the government on the issue of national security.
"The raksha mantri told the meeting that it was an ongoing operation and that is why he cannot share the technical details of Operation Sindoor," Rijiju said, adding that this was the reason why armed forces officials were not present at the meeting as they were busy with the operation.
Gandhi told reporters, "There are certain things that should not be discussed. Everyone simply gave their support." The government informed the gathering that only terrorists camps and places harbouring terrorists were struck and all steps would be taken to ensure the safety of people, especially in border areas.
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said he complimented the armed forces and the government for conducting Operation Sindoor.
"I also said that we should run an international campaign against The Resistance Front (a Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy) and the UN Security Council should designate it as a terror organisation. We also need to ask the United States to designate the TRF as a foreign terrorist organisation," he said.
The sources said Owaisi also raised the issue of online abuse aimed at Himanshi Narwal, wife of naval officer Vinay Narwal, who was one of the 26 people killed by terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22. Some opposition leaders called for taking all measures to ensure communal harmony.
BJD leader Sasmit Patra said his party "wholeheartedly commends the extraordinary courage, clinical precision and gallant professionalism of our armed forces in carrying out Operation Sindoor. We salute every officer, soldier, unit involved in this mission".
"We are united against the fight on terrorism from Pakistan. This is the need of the hour. We should fight shoulder to shoulder. There should be no division between us," TMC leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay said.
Home Minister Amit Shah, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J P Nadda attended the meeting.
The government had also convened an all-party meeting on April 24 to brief leaders on the Pahalgam attack.
