10 injured as mini-bus overturns on Mumbai-Nashik route in Kasara Ghat

A private mini-bus carrying nearly 20 passengers to a wedding in Nashik overturned at Kasara Ghat in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Sunday morning, leaving ten people injured, police said on Monday.

The accident occurred around 9 am near Chintamanwadi turning when the bus driver lost control of the vehicle, according to Kasara police station inspector Suresh Gavit. The passengers, who were traveling from Mumbai's Cuffe Parade to Sinnar in Nashik, were en route to attend a marriage function.

Of the ten injured, four sustained serious injuries and were shifted to Mumbai’s government-run JJ Hospital for advanced treatment. The remaining injured were admitted to private hospitals in Shahapur and other nearby towns.

Police confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.

This unfortunate incident underscores the need for safer driving practices, particularly on winding stretches like Kasara Ghat, which are notorious for sharp turns and challenging terrain.
