Warwick Davis Returns for HBO's New 'Harry Potter' Series

Los Angeles, Sep 2 (PTI) English actor Warwick Davis is set to return as Professor Filius Flitwick in the much-anticipated "Harry Potter" series, as announced by HBO.

Davis captured fans' hearts with his portrayal of the Charms Master at Hogwarts across all eight "Harry Potter" films, adapted from J.K. Rowling’s bestselling books. He also played the role of Griphook, a goblin from Gringotts Wizarding Bank. The latter role will now be taken over by Leigh Gill.

In a recent Instagram post, HBO shared a photo of Davis on the iconic Hogwarts Express, exciting fans with his return. The network also confirmed new cast members for the series: Elijah Oshin will play Dean Thomas, while Finn Stephens and William Nash will appear as Draco Malfoy's sidekicks, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle.

We are charmed to announce the return of Warwick Davis as Professor Flitwick, and also welcome Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, Bríd Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey, and Leigh Gill as Griphook,” HBO posted.

The production has recently begun at Warner Bros.' Leavesden Studios in the UK. Dominic McLaughlin takes on the role of the young wizard Harry Potter, with Arabella Stanton and Alastair Stout playing Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, respectively.

Other notable cast members include John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, and Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge.

The series will also feature Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley and Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley. Recent announcements include Tristan and Gabriel Harland as Fred and George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, and Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley.

Guided by showrunner-writer Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod, the series is poised for a 2027 premiere on HBO and HBO Max.
