Actor Tannishtha Chatterjee's Brave Battle with Cancer

New Delhi, Aug 25 (PTI) Actor Tannishtha Chatterjee, who has gained acclaim for her roles in both Hindi and English independent films such as "Parched" and "Brick Lane," has disclosed her ongoing battle with stage 4 oligometastatic cancer.

In an emotional message shared on Instagram, the 44-year-old actress revealed her diagnosis. "As if losing my father to cancer was not enough, 8 months ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 oligometastatic cancer," she wrote, accompanying a photograph of herself sitting on a sofa with a shaved head.

The actor emphasized that her note was meant to be a message of love and strength rather than one of pain. "It can’t get worse than this. A 70-year-old mother and a 9-year-old daughter, both fully dependent on me. Yet, in my darkest moments, I discovered an extraordinary kind of love, the kind that shows up, holds space, and never leaves you feeling alone. I found this in my amazing friends and family, whose unwavering support brought genuine smiles to my face, even on the hardest days," she shared.

Chatterjee posted an old photograph from a celebration with friends Vidya Balan, Dia Mirza, Shabana Azmi, and Konkona Sen Sharma, stating that in a world advancing rapidly towards AI, human compassion remains her saving grace.
