MM Keeravani opens up on about the time Guneet Monga got breathless at Oscars

MM Keeravani who won the Best Song in original category at the Academy Awards has spoken about the incident where ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ producer Guneet Monga was not given chance to complete her speech.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Keeravani said, ‘She was not given time to speak her words, so she went breathless and was hospitalised later.’

A video has been doing rounds online that shows Guneet waiting for the director Kartiki Gonsalves to finish her speech and take over. But she couldn’t get a chance to put a word in.

Talking about the incident with news agency PTI, Guneet said that she was shocked when her speech was cut off by the music. She said, 'I was on the stage but I loudly said to the people who were on the ground that this is India’s first Oscar for an Indian production and then everybody started clapping.'

She added, ‘I can’t believe that I was so zoned out and shocked. My heart started beating so fast. I thought I can’t come this far and not be heard.'They cut us off, which was not nice, at that moment I felt that I would go back and give my speech again on the main stage.
But backstage, I was able to give my speech.

Fans have slammed the Academy for not allowing Guneet to give her speech on stage.
