Karan Johar Shares Insightful Details on Shelved Film 'Takht'

Mumbai, Sep 4: Filmmaker Karan Johar recently shared insights about his now-shelved project "Takht" during the trailer launch of "Mirai - Super Yodha." Johar mentioned his deep desire to create a period film one day.

Having invested over two years into preparing "Takht," the film was shelved due to various reasons, including the pandemic, leaving him heartbroken. "I was set to direct a historical feature film, 'Takht.' Due to unforeseen circumstances, including the pandemic, we had to halt the project. I dedicated two and a half years to researching and writing the film, and it was disheartening not to proceed at that time. Every film has its own destiny, and I hope to revisit such a project in the future," he shared.

Karan had announced "Takht" in August 2018, an epic narrative set in the Mughal era with a stellar cast comprising Anil Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar. The screenplay was penned by Sumit Roy and centered on the complex relationship between Mughal emperor Aurangzeb and his brother, Dara Shukoh.

Currently, Johar is involved in distributing "Mirai," which stars Teja Sajja, known for his role in "Hanu-Man." The film, directed by Karthik Gattamneni and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad and Krithi Prasad, tells the story of a fearless warrior tasked with protecting nine sacred scriptures.
