Mumbai, Oct 17 (PTI) Rishab Shetty's "Kantara: Chapter 1" is continuing its phenomenal success at the box office, earning a staggering Rs 717.50 crore in gross collections over two weeks since its theatrical release, according to the film's producers.

The movie, a prequel to Shetty's 2022 hit "Kantara," premiered in theatres on October 2, under the Hombale Films banner.

The Kannada film has been widely praised by both audiences and critics for its compelling narrative, strong performances, and impressive visual presentation.

Set in pre-colonial Karnataka during the Kadambas dynasty in Banavasi, "Kantara: Chapter 1" explores the conflict between local tribals of the Kantara forest and a ruthless king.

The film features a talented cast including Shetty, Sapthami Gowda, Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram, P D Satish Chandra, and Prakash Thuminad.

Rishab Shetty is the writer, director, and lead actor of the film, which is produced by Vijay Kiragandur for Hombale Films. Arvind S Kashyap handled the cinematography, and B Ajaneesh Loknath composed the music, reprising their roles from the original "Kantara".
