India Selects 'Homebound' for 2026 Oscars Best International Feature

Kolkata: Hindi film 'Homebound' has been selected as India's official submission for the 2026 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature category, as announced by the selection committee chairperson N Chandra during a press conference in Kolkata on Friday.

Chandra revealed that a total of 24 films across various languages were considered for the honor of representing India at the Oscars.

"It was a very difficult choice," he remarked, adding, "These were films that touched the lives of people."

He explained, "We were not judges but coaches. We were searching for players who have made their mark."

The selection committee consisted of 12 members, including producers, directors, writers, editors, and journalists.

'Homebound', directed by Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Karan Johar and Adar Poonawalla, features Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa, and Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles.

The film explores the journey of two childhood friends from a small village in North India as they strive to secure a police job that promises them the dignity they have been denied for so long.
