Duffer Brothers Sign Exclusive Four-Year Deal with Paramount

Los Angeles, Aug 20 (PTI) - The Duffer Brothers, known for creating the globally acclaimed series "Stranger Things," have entered into an exclusive four-year agreement with Hollywood's Paramount studio. This announcement was made by Paramount on Tuesday and highlighted in an article by Variety, which detailed that the deal encompasses feature films, television, and streaming initiatives. This collaboration signifies a strategic win for Paramount as it aims to expand its creative portfolio following its acquisition by Skydance Media, under the leadership of David Ellison, earlier this year. Matt and Ross Duffer, who will transition to Paramount from Netflix in the coming year, are recognized as top-tier creators in the entertainment industry. Future projects will be developed under their production company, Upside Down Pictures, with the brothers at the helm alongside their producing partner and company president, Hilary Leavitt. “Joining the Paramount family is a thrilling venture for us. Fulfilling a lifelong dream at a studio with such a rich Hollywood heritage is a privilege we deeply value," Matt and Ross Duffer expressed in a statement. At Paramount, the duo will reconnect with Cindy Holland, Paramount's newly appointed head of streaming, who initially greenlit “Stranger Things” during her tenure at Netflix, and Matt Thunell, the President of Paramount Television, who also collaborated with the brothers at Netflix. “We are thrilled to reunite with Cindy (Holland) and Matt (Thunell), who were among the first to believe in us and the unique script that became ‘Stranger Things.’ Their belief in us continues as we embark on this new journey together," they added. This move reflects Paramount's renewed commitment to attracting top-tier talent, a priority outlined by CEO David Ellison, who recently pledged to make the studio “the top destination for the most talented artists and filmmakers in the world.” This agreement follows a series of high-profile talent acquisitions for the studio. Earlier this month, Paramount announced the involvement of actor Timothée Chalamet and director James Mangold in a motocross heist film on the first day of its merger.
