David Corenswet Returns as Superman in 'Man of Tomorrow'

David Corenswet is ready to don the iconic cape once more as James Gunn, the director and co-head of DC Films, has officially announced the sequel to "Superman." This highly anticipated film, titled "Man of Tomorrow," is set to hit US theaters on July 9, 2027.

James Gunn, who previously directed Corenswet in the summer blockbuster, shared this exciting news on the platform X. His post features a comic book illustration of Superman beside his arch-enemy, Lex Luthor, who is depicted in his warsuit.

The "Superman" reboot, which Gunn helmed, was released in July 2025. David Corenswet took over the role of Superman from Henry Cavill. Rachel Brosnahan portrayed Lois Lane, while Nicholas Hoult stepped into the shoes of the villainous Lex Luthor.

In the timeline of DC films, "Man of Tomorrow" will arrive shortly after the 2026 release of "Supergirl," directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock as the leading heroine. This information comes courtesy of entertainment news outlet Variety.

The fast-paced schedule also places the "Superman" sequel ahead of Matt Reeves' "The Batman Part II," which is currently planned for an October 1, 2027 release, featuring Robert Pattinson.
