Bharat Pavilion's Debut at TIFF with Women-Led Projects

Mumbai, Sep 5 (PTI) — The Bharat Pavilion made its grand North American debut at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The event was inaugurated by Ajay Nagabhushan, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, and Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh, the Acting Consul General of India in Toronto, alongside TIFF's CEO Cameron Bailey. This year, the Pavilion places a spotlight on WAVES Bazaar, as per an official press release.

Curated by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), WAVES Bazaar serves as a global e-marketplace, bringing creators and buyers together from diverse sectors including film, television, streaming, gaming, animation, music, and AVGC-XR.

Ajay Nagabhushan highlighted that the Bharat Pavilion, running from September 4 to September 9, is a celebration of India’s cinematic prowess and a platform for forging international partnerships. Slated for September 6, the upcoming WAVES Bazaar event promises an array of engaging activities, including panel discussions, roundtable sessions, policy dialogues, and a series of B2B meetings between Indian and international delegates.

Kapidhwaja Pratap Singh emphasized the significance of TIFF as Toronto hosts a thriving film industry and a substantial Indian diaspora.
