Anurag Kashyap Unveils 'Nishaanchi' Trailer: A Cinematic Love Letter

New Delhi, Sep 3 (PTI): Anurag Kashyap, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his significant contributions to Hindi cinema, has released the trailer of his latest film, "Nishaanchi." Kashyap describes the film as a love letter to the elements he cherishes in Hindi cinema.

The film features a stellar cast, including debutant Aaishvary Thackeray, Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra. Thackeray takes on the challenging dual role of twin brothers, Babloo and Dabloo, who are mirror images but deeply different in their beliefs. Set in the early 2000s in Uttar Pradesh, the narrative delves into the intertwined lives of Babloo Nishaanchi, Rangeeli Rinku, and Dabloo, with unexpected twists bringing their worlds together. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on September 19.

Kashyap, whose filmography includes critically acclaimed projects like "Black Friday," "Gangs of Wasseypur," "Dev D," and "Ugly," refers to "Nishaanchi" as his most cinematic endeavor. 'Nishaanchi' is a tale I’ve treasured over the years. It embodies a classic narrative filled with emotion, betrayal, and action — the very essence of Hindi films I grew up admiring. Collaborating with Amazon MGM Studios India has been exceptionally rewarding as they placed immense trust in my vision," he stated.

He further praised the cast, saying, "Aaishvary, Vedika, Monika, Zeeshan, Kumud, and all the actors involved gave remarkable performances. They truly embodied these characters, and their dedication is evident throughout the film. My crew matched this passion with every frame, elevating the film’s execution. The music, deeply resonant with the narrative’s emotion, enhances the storytelling. I'm optimistic that audiences will resonate with the music."

Thackeray expressed his excitement and nervousness about his debut, noting that "Nishaanchi" provided him with a platform to explore his versatility. "It’s not just my debut film, but a chance to delve into different facets of myself. Portraying twin characters with diametric personalities was a multifaceted challenge, pushing me emotionally and physically as an actor. I'm both anxious and elated to share this journey with the audience."

Pinto, who plays Rangeeli Rinku, shared her admiration for Kashyap’s work. Working with Anurag Kashyap has been a dream come true. This film, even for him, feels distinct — fresh and layered with surprises. Rangeeli Rinku appears sweet and innocent, but her true fierce spirit unfolds as the story progresses."

Nikhil Madhok, director and head of India Originals at Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, expressed pride in partnering with Kashyap. We are delighted to work with Anurag Kashyap — a visionary whose bold, emotionally resonant storytelling has profoundly influenced Indian cinema. We eagerly await audiences to witness the powerful performances by Aaishvary and Vedika, who lead a remarkable cast."

Produced by Ajay Rai and Ranjan Singh under Jar Pictures, in collaboration with Flip Films, "Nishaanchi" is penned by Prasoon Mishra, Ranjan Chandel, alongside Kashyap. The film also features Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra in key roles.
