Woman dragged by car: eyewitness says he saw body, followed vehicle, called police, but no help came

The eyewitness who claims to have seen a woman's body getting dragged under a car in Delhi, has accused the capital's police of being lax and apathetic.

Deepak Dahiya, the owner of a dairy shop in Ladpur village, was at his store for the unloading of milk boxes at 3:15 am on 1 January 2023. Just then, he saw a car going at around 20 km/h, and between the tyres on the left side, he spotted a woman's body.

Deepak claims he called police but was asked to call back. When the car took a U-turn and passed his shop again, he started following the vehicle on his two-wheeler.

Deepak says that he called the police around 18-20 times over a span of 45 minutes, but quick action was not taken. The witness says that he also spotted two police PCR vans on the way, but they did not help him. A third PCR van stopped the car, but let it go.

Subsequently, Deepak returned to his shop, and that is when the woman's body was found nearby.
