UP teenage boy shot dead his mother over video game, used room freshener to cover stench

In Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow, a 16-year-old boy shot and killed his mother after she reportedly stopped him from playing a game on his mobile phone.

According to reports, the boy was accustomed to playing PUBG-like game and when the mother stopped him from playing, he picked up his father's licensed pistol and shot her in the head.

After the mother died on the spot, the accused boy locked the younger sister in another room. Police said that the accused had killed the mother on Sunday itself and he stayed with her body for three days and kept using room freshener to keep the stench away.

According to the police, on Tuesday, after he failed to contain the foul smell, the boy called his father in Kolkata and informed about the murder. It was the boy’s father, an army officer, who called the police.

Initially, the boy misled the police by saying that a miscreant had come to the house and he carried out the murder, but within a short time the truth of the murder came to light and the police took the accused son into custody.
