Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday appealed rebel MLAs of his party camping in Guwahati to return to Mumbai and talk to him.
“It is not too late. I appeal to you to return and sit with me and remove the confusion (created by your actions) among Shiv Sainiks and the public,” a statement by Thackeray’s aide quoted him as saying.

The Karnataka High Court has set aside a sessions court order of life sentence on a woman from Andhra Pradesh who allegedly killed her two-month-old daughter, and ordered her release from prison.
The Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge, Madhugiri in Tumakuru district on July 22, 2017, convicted Kavitha, from Madakasira in Sri Sathyasai district of Andhra Pradesh, under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of the Indian Penal Code, to undergo life imprisonment for murder.
Kavitha and her husband Manjunatha had come to a hospital in Koratagere, Tumakuru, Karnataka to treat their child suffering from respiratory problems and epilepsy. Kavitha was also unable to feed her baby.
Manjunatha complained to the local police that Kavitha threw the baby in the Suvarnamukhi river on the outskirts of the town on August 24, 2016. The investigation and trial led to her conviction by the trial court in 2017.
A total of 15 witnesses and 16 documents were used by the prosecution to get the conviction.
However, the division bench of the High Court comprising Justice K Somashekar and Justice Shivashankar Amarannavar earlier this month allowed the woman's appeal, set aside the conviction, acquitted her and also ordered her release.
"In the instant case, the importance of corroboration of the evidence which was facilitated by the prosecution, it must be positive, cogent, consistent and probabalized that the accused had committed the murder of the deceased," the HC said in the judgement.
However, "in the instant case, though the prosecution subjected examination of PW.1 to PW.15, but no worthwhile evidence has been facilitated by the prosecution for securing the conviction of the accused for the offence under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code," it stated.

Writing letters in the modern age inundated with technological gizmos seems a thing of the past.
However, a woman from Kerala has set a world record by writing the longest letter to her brother on the occasion of World Brother's Day.
Krishnapriya, who hails from Kerala's Idduki district, told Times Now she was unable to be with her younger brother Krishnaprasad and even missed his calls and texts due to her hectic work schedule.
Krishnapriya then decided to compensate for her mistake by sending a handwritten letter to her brother. 
She initially started writing on an A4 sheet but soon realised that she would be needing much more than that.
After completion, the total length of the letter stood at 434-metre and took 12 hours.
Krishnapriya said that writing the letter was not pre-planned and was a co-incidence.
Krishnapriya has now already sent a notification of her feat to the Guinness World Record and applied under the record for the longest letter ever written.

Leaders of the powerful G7 grouping and its five partner countries, including India, have said that they are committed to open public debate and the free flow of information online and offline while guarding the freedom, independence and diversity of civil society actors.
In a joint statement titled '2022 Resilient Democracies Statement' issued here on Monday during the G7 Summit, the leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said they are prepared to defend these principles and are resolved to protect the freedom of expression.
The joint statement came amidst allegations that the Indian government was stifling the freedom of speech and the civil society actors.
The leaders said democracies enable open public debate, independent and pluralistic media and the free flow of information online and offline, fostering legitimacy, transparency, responsibility and accountability for citizens and elected representatives alike.
The leaders said they resolved to "protecting the freedom of expression and opinion online and offline and ensuring a free and independent media landscape through our work with relevant international initiatives." They promised to guard the freedom, independence and diversity of civil society actors, speak out against threats to civic space, and respect freedom of association and peaceful assembly.
The leaders pledged to ensure an open, free, global, interoperable, reliable and secure internet; increase the cyber resilience of digital infrastructure, including by improving and sharing awareness of cyber threats and expanding cyber response cooperation and counter hybrid threats, in particular, information manipulation and interference, including disinformation.
They also resolved to cooperate to counter information manipulation, promote accurate information and advocate for shared democratic values worldwide.
They vowed to promote affordable access to diverse sources of reliable and trustworthy information and data, online and offline, including through a multi-stakeholder approach, and by strengthening digital skills and digital literacy.
They also pledged to enhance transparency about the actions of online platforms to combat violent, extremist and inciting content online in line with the Christchurch Call to Action.
The Christchurch Call is a commitment by governments and tech companies to eliminate terrorist and violent extremist content online.
They said democracies "lay and protect the foundations for free and vibrant civic spaces, enabling and encouraging civic engagement and political participation, which in turn stimulate meaningful legitimacy, creativity, innovation, social accountability, and responsibility." The leaders said they are committed to building resilience against malign foreign interference and acts of transnational repression that seek to undermine trust in government, society and media, reduce civic space and silence critical voices.
The leaders pledged to advance programmes for the protection of human rights defenders and all those exposing corruption; promote academic freedom and strengthen the role of scientific evidence and research in democratic debate; protect civic space, and uphold transparent, accountable, inclusive and participatory governance, including by advancing women’s full, equal and meaningful participation and leadership in civic and political life.
The Group of Seven (G7) is an inter-governmental political grouping consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the US.

Two persons were killed and 12 others injured after a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai, a fire brigade official said on Tuesday.
A wing of the residential building, located in Kurla’s Naik Nagar Society, collapsed around midnight, the official said.
The injured people were shifted to civic hospitals in Ghatkopar and Sion.
Two men, aged 28 and 30, among those brought to the Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, was declared dead on arrival, a civic official said.
A woman, who was trapped under the debris, was rescued by a team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
Rescuers cheered when the woman was brought out alive from the rubble. Fire brigade personnel were searching for more survivors, the official said.
Earlier, locals informed the fire brigade personnel that around 20-22 people were trapped under the debris, when they reached the spot after receiving a call about the incident, the official said, adding that the numbers may vary.
Around a dozen fire engines were deployed at the spot, besides two rescue vans and other fire brigade equipment, the official said.
Teams of the fire brigade and the NDRF were engaged in the search and rescue operations at the site along with civic staff and police.
NDRF commandant Anupam Srivastava said two of their teams were involved in the search and rescue work at the building. A connected wing of building was also in a dilapidated condition and likely to collapse, and its residents were shifted out, a civic official said. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had been issuing notices to the collapsed building repeatedly since 2013, under provisions of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, initially for repairs and then for vacating it and demolition, Additional Municipal Commissioner Ashwini Bhide told PTI.  "Even prosecution for-non compliance was initiated. Later, the residents got the structural audit redone and got the building categorised as repairable, but didn't carry out the repairs," said the official, who visited the spot on Tuesday and reviewed the search and rescue operation.
Bhide said despite the BMC's continuous efforts to vacate the building, people had continued to stay there.
The building residents had even given an undertaking that they would stay there at their risk and cost, she said.
Maharashtra Environment and Tourism Minister Aaditya Thackeray also visited the site and reviewed the search and rescue operation. This is the third major building collapse incident in the metropolis this month.
On June 23, the slab of a two-storey industrial structure collapsed in Chembur area, killing a 22-year-old person and injuring 10 others.
On June 9, a three-storey residential building collapsed in suburban Bandra, where a 55-year-old man was killed and 18 others suffered injuries.

Kurla building collapse: 11 dead, rescue operation continues

11 people were killed after a wing of a residential building, located in Kurla’s Naik Nagar Society, collapsed around midnight on Tuesday.

Teams of the fire brigade and the NDRF were engaged in the search and rescue operations at the site along with civic staff and police.

Eleven people were killed and 13 others injured after a four-storey building collapsed in the Kurla area of Mumbai around midnight, civic officials said on Tuesday.
A wing of the building located in Naik Nagar society collapsed while another wing was evacuated as it too is dilapidated, said officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
Search and rescue operations were underway. As per a senior official, residents of the building had been repeatedly warned about the condition of the building, but they insisted on staying there.
As many as 23 people were rescued from the debris since midnight. Ten of them were declared dead, four were admitted in hospitals, and nine were discharged from hospitals after treatment, said an official.
Doctors at the BMC-run Rajawadi hospital declared Kishor Prajapati (20), Sikandar Rajbhar (21), Arvind Rajendra Bharati (19), Anup Rajbhar (18), Anil Yadav (21) and Shyamu Prajapati (18) as `brought dead' around 3 pm, he added.
Earlier in the day, four persons were declared dead before admission, including one at the Sion hospital.

Police said that the accused is not employed, and belongs to a well-to-do family. One of the Toyota Fortuners used in the videos belonged to his family, while another was borrowed from a relative.
Gautam Buddh Nagar police commissioner Alok Singh lauded the action, and also advised guardians to be careful about what their wards do.

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended by four days the custodial interrogation of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair in a case related to an “objectionable tweet” he had posted in 2018. 
Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on Monday for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his tweet. 
While the police claim that his tweet had a questionable image with a purpose to deliberately insult the god of a particular religion, Zubair's lawyer told the court that the picture referred to his simply an image from 'Kisi Se Na Kehna' a 1983 film by Hrishikesh Mukherjee.

A Delhi court on Tuesday extended by four days the custodial interrogation of Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair in a case related to an “objectionable tweet” he had posted in 2018. 

Zubair was arrested by the Delhi Police on Monday for allegedly hurting religious sentiments through his tweet.&nbsp;

A city court on Tuesday extended by four days the custodial interrogation of fact-checking website Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair, a day after he was arrested by the Delhi police over an &ldquo;objectionable tweet&rdquo; he had posted in 2018 against a Hindu deity.
As calls grow for the immediate release of the journalist, the Delhi Police claimed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria that the accused was following a trend where he used religious tweets in an effort to get famous.
&ldquo;This was a deliberate effort on his part to create social disharmony and hurt religious feelings,&rdquo; the police alleged. The accused, however, alleged that the police is abusing its power and wanted a "fishing enquiry".
 Zubair was produced before the court on the expiry of his one-day custodial interrogation.
The police submitted before the court that Zubair did not cooperate with the investigating agency and that his custodial interrogation was required to gather information regarding the device from which the tweet was made by him.
During the hearing, Zubair's counsel Vrinda Grover said the photo which the accused used in the tweets is of an old Hindi film from 1983 by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, &ldquo;Kissi Se Na Kehna&rdquo;, and that the movie was not banned.
The court, however, rejected the submission saying it was of no assistance to the accused at this stage.

&ldquo;Considering that mobile phone/laptop of accused used by him for posting the tweet in question is to be recovered at the instance of accused Mohammed Zubair from his Bangalore residence and that accused has remained non-cooperative and the disclosure statement on record, four days PC (police custody) remand of accused is granted since accused is to be taken to Bangalore,&rdquo; the judge said in a 3-page order.
The judge then directed that Zubair be produced before the court on July 2. Police had sought an extension of Zubair's custody by five days.
Grover opposed the police plea alleging that it had called Zubair for questioning in some other case but he was arrested in the present case in haste.
She said the tweet in question was published by Zubair in 2018.
&ldquo;Someone recently tweeted Zubair's tweet of 2018, and the present case was filed. The anonymous Twitter handle had its very first tweet, which cited Zubair's tweet, which has been picked up by police. The agency is playing mischief,&rdquo; the counsel said.
In any case, the Twitter handle using Zubair's tweet is not the spokesperson of all the Hanuman devotees, she added.
&ldquo;They're claiming that I edited the photo in question. The tweet is present there since 2018. Since 2018 that tweet has not created a flutter. Multiple Twitter users had shared the picture. Prima facie there is no case." &nbsp; &ldquo;Police is trying to create media hype, media frenzy. Police are abusing their power. They wanted my (Zubair's) laptop because I am a journalist and there is various sensitive information in it. They want a fishing enquiry,&rdquo; Grover said.

Ending speculation on various items and deadlines, the Ministry of Environment has notified that all single-use plastic items will be banned from July 1. “India will ban manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified single use plastic items, which have low utility and high littering potential, all across the country from July 1, 2022," the statement from the Ministry said. Items To Be Banned From July 1:

Cutlery items including plates, cups, glasses, forks, spoons, knives, trays
Earbuds
Sweet boxes
Invitation cards

Single use plastic faces complete ban from July 1, Straws to earbuds off the racks

Ending speculation on various items and deadlines, the Ministry of Environment has notified that all single-use plastic items will be banned from July 1.&nbsp; &ldquo;India will ban manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of identified single-use plastic items, which have low utility and high littering potential, all across the country from July 1, 2022," the statement from the Ministry said.&nbsp; Items To Be Banned From July 1:
