Shraddha Walkar murder: blood samples found at Aaftab Poonawala's house matched victim, says report

In a fresh boost for investigators in the Shraddha Walkar murder case, blood samples found at the flat of Aaftab Poonawala have reportedly been found to belong to the victim.

This was confirmed by a central forensic lab report, according to sources quoted by Hindustan Times.

This is the second breakthrough for police in the case. On 15 December 2022, Delhi police said that bone samples found in a forest had matched Shraddha's father's DNA.

The blood sample report is admissible as evidence in court, the HT report said.

Meanwhile, a day earlier, accused Aaftab Poonawala withdrew his bail application in court, citing miscommunication with the lawyer. Poonawala will reportedly seek bail once police file the chargesheet in the case.

Poonawala has been accused of murdering his girlfriend and live-in partner Shraddha Walkar at their flat in south Delhi. He allegedly chopped her body into 35 pieces and stored them in a refrigerator at the house. Over many days, he allegedly disposed of the body pieces.
