Shraddha murder: DNA report of bones, jaw expected soon; police have 'fingers crossed'

A major development in the Shraddha Walkar murder case is expected this week with DNA analysis of bones likely to be released by forensic scientists.

The DNA report analysis of 13 decomposed bones and partial jaw is expected in the next few days, according to a Hindustan Times report quoting Delhi Police officers.

The bones were found by police on the basis of the confession of Shraddha's partner Aaftab Poonawala, who allegedly killed her and chopped her body into 35 pieces before disposing of it.

The bones were sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) for examination.

Delhi Police sources told HT that the DNA results could either be a big breakthrough in the case, or a setback, and investigators have their "fingers crossed".

If the bone samples do not match Shraddha's DNA, then police will have only circumstantial evidence, not hard proof, against Aaftab.
