Nikki Yadav fridge murder: 'roamed for hours; deleted WhatsApp chats' - accused Sahil Gehlot to cops

More gory details have emerged in the murder case of Nikki Yadav, who was killed allegedly by her live-in partner Sahil Gehlot.

Sahil told police that he and Nikki had roamed around for many hours a night before the murder, as per sources quoted by news agency ANI. Sahil reportedly admitted that he killed Nikki in a parking lot near Nigambodh Ghat between 8:30 and 9 am on 10 February.

Then, the alleged killer deleted tried to erase digital evidence, by deleting WhatsApp chats and other data from Nikki's phone, according to police. Delhi Police Crime Branch is checking CCTV footage from the Uttam Nagar, Nizamuddin, Kashmere Gate area, as per ANI.

Narrating the sequence of event, the accused told police that he had left Yadav's residence around 15 days before the incident but after his engagement on February 9, he visited her house in Uttam Nagar and he spent the night there with her, he said.

Nikki Yadav was allegedly strangled to death by Gehlot who stuffed her body inside a refrigerator of his dhaba (eatery) in southwest Delhi. The crime came to light only on February 14 when the body of 23-year-old Nikki Yadav was recovered from the refrigerator following Gehlot's questioning, police claimed.
