Omicron update: Apple shutters NY stores, Goldman mandates boosters, 3000 flights cancelled

With over 180,000 new covid cases in the United States in the last 24 hours businesses from Goldman Sachs, Apple to Airlines are reworking their biz plans.

Apple has closed its 16 major New York City retail stores -- including its Fifth Avenue, SoHo, Grand Central and World Trade Center locations to shoppers because of rising Covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile Goldman Sachs, one of Wall Street’s staunchest advocates of returning employees to offices, will make Covid-19 vaccination booster shots compulsory as it continues to keep offices open through the surge of infection.

Meanwhile turbulent times back for airlines. More than 2,800 flights have been canceled Monday as Covid cases surge across the globe. 2800 flights were cancelled globally at the start of the week with more than 1000 of those being in or out of US.

Globally, airlines canceled more than 6,000 flights on Christmas Eve, Christmas and the day after Christmas due to the rise in infection.
