Covid Surge: If the positivity rate crosses 5% and stays above that for two consecutive days, a Red alert would be declared in the national capital

Covid surge: What happens if Covid positivity rate crosses 5% in Delhi?

Delhi logged 3,194 new Covid cases on Sunday, taking the total case positivity rate to 4.5%.

If the positivity rate crosses 5% and stays above that for two consecutive days, a Red alert would be declared in the national capital. Other conditions for Covid Red Alert are the 16000-case mark, or if 3,000 beds are occupied.

Here are the curbs that you will see in the Capital if a Red Alert is declared:

• A total curfew would be imposed, including on the weekends.

• All educational institutions would be shut.

• All shops, except those selling essential goods, will be closed.

• Swimming pools and stadia will be shut. Only athletes participating in national or international events will be allowed

• Number of guests at Weddings will be capped at 15.

• Cultural, social and religious gatherings will be prohibited.

• Government and private offices will remain closed. Only govt offices engaged in essential services will function at 100% capacity.

• Cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes, banquet halls, barbershops, saloons, beauty parlours, spas & wellness clinics, gym will remain closed

• Restaurants will be shut. Only home delivery and take-away will be allowed.
