Tesla may soon setup it's first Indian manufacturing unit in Gujarat: Report

Tesla, the electric vehicle (EV) company led by Elon Musk, is poised to make an entrance into India with its maiden manufacturing plant anticipated to be established in Gujarat next year. As negotiations for the EV manufacturer's inaugural production hub in India near their completion, Ahmedabad Mirror's reports suggest an imminent announcement, potentially during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit slated for January 2024

Gujarat, renowned for its conducive business climate, has long been a strategic hub for various industries. Hosting manufacturing giants like Maruti Suzuki, among others, the state is primed to welcome Tesla's venture. The potential sites for the Tesla manufacturing facility, as per the Ahmedabad Mirror report, encompass locales like Sanand, Becharaji, and Dholera.

While neither Tesla nor the state government has issued an official statement regarding this development, Gujarat's Health Minister and government spokesperson, Rushikesh Patel, exuded optimism about Elon Musk's prospective investment in the state. During a recent Cabinet briefing, Minister Patel underscored Gujarat's alignment with Tesla's overarching objectives, indicating ongoing discussions to finalize the deal for the manufacturing plant.

Gujarat's pull for Tesla extends beyond government policies, with its geographical proximity to ports being a pivotal factor. Leveraging locations like Sanand, Tesla could capitalize on the swift connectivity to the Kandla-Mundra port, facilitating seamless exports of its products.
