TCS CEO and MD K Krithivasan while speaking about the bribe-for-job scam said that it is difficult to detect a code of conduct violation in an organisation that has about six lakh employees

TCS bribes-for-jobs scandal: TCS CEO K Krithivasan speaks out

I-T giant Tata Consultancy Services was shook by the bribe-for-jobs scandal last month. Now, the company's CEO K Krithivasan has spoken out about the scam.

In an interview to Economic Times, he mentioned that the scandal was a one-off code of conduct violation and not a systemic failure. He also added that the incident was swiftly dealt with and had no impact on relationships with clients.

He further said that it is difficult to detect violation of code of conduct in an organisation that employs six lakh employees. However, he assured that the core values are very important for the company.

When questioned about clients' reaction on the scandal the CEO said that it has not left any negative impression on the associates and that they are happy with the action. He also assured that the right message was sent as the head of the recruitment team was changed.

So far, TCS has sacked 4 officials and has blacklisted 3 HR consulting firms after the bribe-for-job scam came to light. A few senior executives had been taking bribes from staffing firms in exchange for providing jobs to their candidates. In the last 3 years, TCS has hired 3 lakh workforce and it is estimated that those involved with the scam inside the company could have amassed Rs 100 crore through the same.
