Industrial stalwart Keshub Mahindra has passed away at 99 on Wednesday. He had a net-worth of $1.2 billion and was named in India's richest billionaires for 2023 list by Forbes

India's oldest billionaire Keshub Mahindra passes away at 99

India's oldest billionaire and the Chairman Emeritus of Mahindra & Mahindra Group, Keshub Mahindra has passed away at the age of 99 on Wednesday. This comes, just days after he found a spot in Forbes list of India’s Richest Billionaires for 2023. As per Forbes he had a net-worth of $1.2 billion.

Keshub Mahindra served as the Chairman of Mahindra & Mahindra group from 1963 to 2012 before passing on the baton to his Nephew Anand Mahindra. Under his leadership, the group transformed into a diversified conglomerate. It expanded from being an automobile manufacturer to other sectors like IT, real estate, financial services and hospitality.

Born in Shimla, Keshub Mahindra completed his graduation from Wharton at the University of Pennsylvania, USA. He joined the Mahindra group in 1947. He was also part of Prime Minister’s Council on Trade & Industry from 2004 to 2010.

Tributes have started pouring in after his demise. Chairman of INSPACe, Pawan Goenka took to twitter and said that the industrialist world has lost one of the tallest personalities.
