Invest Smart: Your comprehensive guide to SIP investments

In this episode of Invest Smart, Kartik Jhaveri, Director at Transcend Capital, dives into the world of investments in Mutual Funds through systematic investment plans (SIPs) for financial growth

Invest Smart: Your comprehensive guide to SIP investments

Investors, both experienced and newcomers, have increasingly turned to Systematic Investment Plans (SIPs) in mutual funds. In September alone, SIPs saw a record-breaking 16,420 crore coming in.

In this episode of Invest Smart, we delve into the details with expert insights from Kartik Jhaveri, shedding light on why SIPs are a vital tool in your financial protfolio.

Jhaveri says SIPs have gained immense popularity among investors. However, it's crucial to note that SIP is not the investment itself; it's a method of getting into the product, specifically mutual funds. Many mistakenly say, "Let's do an SIP," when the real question should be, "Which fund should I invest in?" says Jhaveri.

SIPs offer a disciplined approach, allowing you to start with as low as ₹500, breaking the myth that investing requires significant capital.

One of the key aspects of SIPs is their long-term approach. Often, investors expect quick returns and might pull out investments prematurely. SIPs work best when you think in terms of 10 to 15 years, allowing you to weather market fluctuations and take advantage of multiple bull runs. By investing a modest amount regularly, the power of compounding works in your favour. Consider this: ₹25,000 invested monthly for 25 years at a conservative 12% growth could yield almost five crores, a substantial corpus for your future, he added.

Jhaveri emphasized that in the current bullish market, expectations for high returns are common. However, it's crucial to manage these expectations and understand that the real power of SIPs materializes over the long term.

Market fluctuations are normal, and SIPs are designed to withstand these ups and downs. Investors should avoid making impulsive decisions based on short-term market movements and focus on their long-term goals.

SIPs offer a systematic and disciplined approach to investing, making wealth creation accessible to everyone. By understanding the nuances of SIPs, seeking professional guidance, and staying committed to the long-term journey, investors can secure their financial future and achieve their financial goals.
