No protocol, no security detail and no flagged cars: that is how the German Ambassador to India Walter J Lindner toured Kashmir last week.

Breaking from traditions, Lindner embarked on a truly casual visit and posted breathtaking photographs of Kashmir on Twitter which has won many hearts on the social media.

Lindner arrived in Srinagar on June 7 and spent two days in Kashmir. He ensured to make full use of his limited time in exploring the beautiful valley. His official Twitter handle reflects his excitement.

A Special Court in Pathankot Monday awarded life imprisonment to three out of the six convicted for the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu’s Kathua district last year.

Canine terror continues to terrorize the people of Kashmir valley as 6000 dog bite cases were registered in last one year from across the Kashmir at the SMHS hospital.

As per the official data provided by the hospital around 800 elderly and 700 children are among the 6000 fresh cases of dog bite that were reported in the hospital from April 2018 to March 2019.

“Among them more than 4500 cases are from Srinagar city alone,” reveals the data.

700 children under the age group of 10 years and around 800 elderly people above 60 years of age were bitten by dogs in last one year, read the data. Besides, 750 cases of adolescents were also reported in the hospital during the period.

In the first two months of 2019, more than 900 cases of dog bites were reported in the hospital.

Srinagar city has turned shabby as the walls of various public and private buildings are defaced with utter disregard to aesthetics or the law prohibiting the same.In a move to curb this disfigurement, Srinagar Municipal Corporation has issued fresh instructions to everyone warning against defacing the city or illegally using the spaces for advertising.In almost every area of the city, walls along the roads and buildings are defaced with graffiti or posters pasted without any authorization.Majority of them advertising coaching centres, the posters are seen on walls, lampposts, and flyover pillars giving the overall ambience a shabby look.
Besides, several promotional hoardings are erected on electricity poles and roadside walls.

Srinagar:The second phase of the Jehangir Chowk-Rambagh flyover was thrown open for vehicular traffic on Wednesday.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor S P Malik inaugurated the second phase of the flyover today morning in presence of other government officials.
The second phase of the flyover which stretches over 1.04 kilometres from Rambagh to Alochi Bagh has been constructed at a cost of 37.5 crore rupees.
The third and last phase of the flyover is expected to be completed by June end. Once completed, the 2.4 kilometre flyover with six access ramps – including at Jehangir Chowk, Gogji Bagh, Alochi Bagh, Rambagh, Natipora and Barzulla – will substantially decongest city traffic and reduce travel time between Jehangir Chowk and Rambagh from about 45 minutes as it takes now to about 2.5 minutes.

Pained by this phenomenon, Aaqib,  a 27-year-old youth decided to embark on a mission to manufacture organic and eco-friendly napkins to promote safety alongside the menstrual hygiene among women.
After a year of research, his efforts shaped into reality. He started his own sanitary napkin unit under the brand name ‘SEHA’ (An Arabic word for health) in April.

Rainfall on Thursday brought relief to people from the sweltering heat. But at the same time, it again exposed the city drainage mechanism. The state government has accorded sanction to conversion of 200 bedded maternity and 300 bedded pediatrics hospital at Bemina into a 500 bedded pediatric hospital. The 70-Cr project will improve the existing tertiary healthcare infrastructure. Once completed, the hospital will reduce patient rush at GB Pant.
