The pandemic has been a stressful time for everyone but a new American poll shows that teens and young adults have experienced the most brutal of struggles growing up during this period of turmoil.
In general, over a third of 13 to 56-year-olds blame the pandemic for being a major source of stress. However, when it came to education, friendships and dating, it was the youth or Generation Z who feel they experienced the most disruption.
Nearly 46 per cent of 13 to 24-year-olds in the U.S. said the outbreak made it harder to pursue their academic or career goals, compared to 36 per cent of Millennials and 31 per cent of Generation X.
The MTV and AP survey also shows that the pandemic was no wingman for the kids. Over 40 per cent of Gen Z said dating and romantic relationships became harder while 45 per cent said even maintaining friendships was tough during the outbreak.

While Covid-19's psychological impact has been felt across generations, the pronounced effect on youngsters is partly linked to where they are in their brain development, say experts.
Education, which has faced the worst disruption, is a bigger part of Gen Z's identity compared to any other age group. In the workplace, Gen Z is all early-career professionals who have been the hardest hit.
A global Deloitte survey found that 78 per cent of 18-24-year-olds found their professional lives affected while 39 per cent lost their jobs or were furloughed as a result of the pandemic.&nbsp;

International Youth Day 2021: As per United Nations, there are around 1.8 million people between the ages of 10-24. Amongst this, approximately 90 percent live in developing countries. These young individuals are keen and eager to contribute to society and propose inspirational change and progress. With the necessary skills and resources, young people can bring about an effective transformation in the world.
On 17th December 1999, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed in its resolution the recommendation made by the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth that 12th August be declared International Youth Day. Since then, it is celebrated annually and has a different theme every year. The theme for 2021 is, &ldquo;Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.&rdquo;
During the 2021 ECOSOC Youth Forum, the young participants highlighted several issues and priorities related to the impact of Covid-19 on the food systems in particular. They stressed the need to focus on the entire process and infrastructure involved in feeding a population, especially during a crisis.

Well, a&nbsp;US study has found that Gen Z wants to eat less meat but does not shy away from their munchies.&nbsp;Making food a large sum of their total expenditure, Gen Z also spends about 23% of their&nbsp;budget&nbsp;on food, found the bi-annual Piper Sandler report.&nbsp;&nbsp;
So, what is Gen Z eating? The survey of 7,000 teens found three key food trends common amongst the kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;
<h3>No additives for us, please!&nbsp;</h3>
Clean eating is incredibly important to Gen Z. Both boys and girls in the survey expressed a preference for organic or natural food, free of any additives. This&nbsp;shows that paying attention to the ingredients labels is not an exception but a norm!&nbsp;
<h3>Give me all the snacks!&nbsp;&nbsp;</h3>
While the older gen may prefer proper&nbsp;sit-down&nbsp;meals, Gen Z is more into snacks and short meals dispersed throughout the day.&nbsp;More than half (or 54 per cent) of the&nbsp;teens&nbsp;surveyed said they&nbsp;invest in healthy snacks, but only 3 per cent of them said they reach out for fruit or veg as their snack of choice.&nbsp;
<h3>Reducing meat is a big feat!&nbsp;</h3>
Half of everyone surveyed claimed they have already reduced their meat consumption&nbsp;and 15 per cent said they have switched to&nbsp;plant-based meats.&nbsp;This makes sense as the younger generation is known to raise alarm over the environmental issues with commercial meat production.

Declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, the day&nbsp;looks at providing opportunities for dialogue between young people, education and training institutions, and employers from different firms.
The ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the consequent lockdown have changed the course of education and training dissemination. According to UNESCO, in June around 19 countries were faced with a complete closure of schools which affected approximately 157 million learners. And the partial closure of schools affected more than 768 million learners.
The list doesn&rsquo;t end here, for as per the estimates by the International Labour Organisation, youth employment fell 8.7 percent in 2020. The sudden disruption in education and training combined with the dip in employment could leave an ever-lasting impact on the labour and recruitment market experience for the young generation.
This year, the day lays its entire focus on reimagining training and skill programmes keeping in mind the coronavirus pandemic and the wide range of possibilities that lie in front of us. It will also acknowledge the resilience and creativity of the young during times of&nbsp;crisis.&nbsp;
