Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said the ceremonial hoisting of the religious flag atop the Ram temple in Ayodhya signifies a proud moment for every Indian and represents an important link in the country's unbroken civilisational heritage.
Addressing the founder's week ceremony of the Maharana Pratap Shiksha Parishad in Gorakhpur, Adityanath said the construction of the grand temple at the Ram Janmabhoomi site and the raising of the 'dharma dhwaja' reflect India's cultural continuity.&nbsp;
"This is a significant milestone in our civilisational journey, one that allows every Indian to feel pride in being the inheritor of this legacy," he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 25 hoisted the saffron flag atop the Ram temple, marking its formal completion, in the presence of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and CM Adityanath.
The chief minister on Thursday said India's identity is rooted in its culture, traditions and national icons, and the loss of cultural values leads to a weakening of national unity.&nbsp;
Recalling the contributions of historical figures such as Maharana Pratap, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Guru Gobind Singh, Rani Lakshmibai and countless soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the nation, he said their courage continues to inspire future generations.
Adityanath emphasised that festivals and traditions strengthen national values and bring people together beyond social differences. He also highlighted Prime Minister Modi's "five pledges", saying they have helped the country reconnect with its heritage, shed the mindset of colonialism, and reaffirm respect for the armed forces.
The chief minister said India has made significant economic progress in recent years, emerging as one of the fastest-growing nations. He asserted that if citizens fulfil their duties and uphold unity, the country will achieve the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. "National identity must rise above divisions of caste, region and language. If we embrace these five commitments, there is no reason India cannot become a fully developed nation," he said.

The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a major crackdown on alleged Rohingya and Bangladeshi infiltrators across the state, and orders were issued to establish detention centres in every division of the state, a senior official said here on Wednesday.&nbsp;
According to the official, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued directions to 17 urban local bodies to prepare detailed lists of illegal immigrants under their jurisdictions. These lists are to be submitted to the respective Commissioners and Inspectors General for further scrutiny.&nbsp;
In the first phase of the action plan, Commissioners and IGs have been instructed to set up dedicated detention centres to hold individuals identified during the verification process.&nbsp;
The chief minister has also directed that detention centres be established in every division of the state, the official said. "Following the chief minister's instructions, the administrative machinery has swung into action. Verification, documentation and field assessments have begun in several districts," the official said.&nbsp;
On November 22, Adityanath had issued clear instructions to all district magistrates of the state to take prompt and strict action against illegal immigrants and had directed that temporary detention centres be established in each district to house infiltrators.&nbsp;
The chief minister had said that law and order, national security, and social harmony are top priorities, and that any form of illegal activity will not be tolerated.&nbsp;
According to the officials, illegal immigrants with foreign citizenship will be housed in these centres and will be ensured there until the necessary verification process is completed.&nbsp;
Adityanath had said that illegal immigrants held in detention centres will be deported to their countries of origin as per the established procedures.&nbsp;
Uttar Pradesh shares an open border with Nepal, allowing free movement of citizens of both countries, but checks on residents of other nationalities.&nbsp;

Addressing the gathering, Adityanath said the grand temple of Lord Ram symbolises the "faith, honour and self pride" of 140 crore Indians.

"The auspicious day is dedicated to the unbroken devotion of the revered seers, warriors and Ram bhakts, who devoted their lives to the movement and the long struggle that culminated in the temple's construction," Adityanath said.
Stating that the flag hoisting was an affirmation that "the light of dharma is eternal", and that the values of Ram Rajya were timeless, the chief minister said the event marked a profound cultural moment for the nation.
When Narendra Modi assumed leadership in 2014, it ignited a "sunrise of resolve and faith" in the hearts of millions, he said.
"Today, that resolve has been fulfilled in the form of this grand Ram temple," Adityanath said.
He added that the flag atop the Ram temple symbolised truth, justice, dignity and national dharma.
"It also represents the vision of a developed India because there is no alternative to resolve. In the last 11 years, we have all witnessed a transforming India. We now see an India where heritage and development coexist in perfect harmony, taking the nation to new heights," Adityanath said.
The chief minister also said that over the past 500 years, generations and regimes changed but the faith of the people in Lord Ram "neither stopped nor bowed."
The unwavering belief persisted, and when the struggle came under the leadership of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, a single resolve echoed across the movement -- "Ramlala hum aayenge, mandir wahin banayenge", "laathi-goli khayenge, par mandir wahin banayenge", he said.
Adityanath also said there was a time when Ayodhya had fallen into neglect and disorder, but under Prime Minister Modi's, it has transformed into a "global spiritual capital".

Speaking at an event in Lucknow to mark 150 years of the national song, he said the immortal composition by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was not merely a song but a "sacred expression of India's unity, spirit and duty." "Vande Mataram is not a song of worship of any one deity, sect or community. It inspires every Indian to rise above self-interest and dedicate themselves to their duties towards the nation," Adityanath said.
Drawing a connection between national duty and everyday actions, the chief minister said a teacher imparting values to students, a soldier guarding the borders in extreme conditions, and a farmer cultivating crops for the nation all embody the true essence of Vande Mataram.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's emphasis on citizens' duties during Constitution Day, Adityanath said, "While we often talk about our rights, it is equally important to remember our duties. These duties can secure both our present and the future generations."
Adityanath paid rich tributes to Chattopadhyay, calling him "the visionary who gave India an eternal mantra of unity." He said the song, first composed in 1875, became a rallying cry for India's freedom movement, inspiring revolutionaries and uniting the nation against colonial rule. "Even in the face of oppression, freedom fighters sang Vande Mataram with courage and faith. It awakened India's collective spirit and gave people a sense of national pride," he said.
The CM added that the song's strength lies in its inclusivity. "Though written in Sanskrit and Bengali, Vande Mataram reflects the soul of all of India &mdash; its culture, unity and timeless identity," he said.
Remembering its historical significance, Adityanath said the slogan Vande Mataram became the heartbeat of every movement during the freedom struggle, representing India's resolve to stand united beyond caste, religion or region. "Today, as we celebrate 150 years of Vande Mataram, we are not only honouring its creator but also reaffirming our commitment to the ideals it represents &mdash; unity, selflessness and devotion to our motherland," the CM said.

Marking the 150th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Patel, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that "removing Article 370 was a true tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel."
On the occasion, the CM inaugurated the 'Run for Unity' in Uttar Pradesh and paid floral tributes to Patel's statue to commemorate the leader's birth anniversary, also known as 'National Unity Day.'
"On this National Unity Day, let us pledge to strengthen India's unity and integrity by rising above caste, language, religion, and region," he said in an official statement.
Referring to Patel's legacy, the Chief Minister said the Iron Man of India united 563 princely states into the Republic of India after independence and foiled British conspiracies. "When the princely states of Hyderabad and Junagadh refused to merge with India, Sardar Patel first adopted the path of dialogue. However, when the nation's integrity was threatened, he took tough decisions to secure India's unity," he said.
Adityanath asserted that there could be "no compromise with India's integrity." He added, "By removing Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Prime Minister Modi has realised the vision of a united India that Sardar Patel envisioned. This is a true tribute to him."
He noted that under Modi's leadership, the nation has since 2014 followed the tradition of honouring great personalities who contributed to uniting India. "Today, the 'Run for Unity' campaign is being conducted at more than 600 locations across the country to instil patriotism and unity among youth," he said.
Adityanath said that 'Run for Unity' events were held in all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, with participation from lakhs of youth, students, officials, and citizens. "This is not just a race, but a symbol of India's unity, integrity, and social harmony," he said.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna, BJP State President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Mayor Sushma Kharwal, Rajya Sabha MP Brijlal, and several MLAs attended the event.

The chief minister, who met nearly 250 people at a Janata Darshan at the Gorakhnath Temple complex, directed the administration to ensure swift, transparent, and satisfactory resolutions, according to officials.
Taking serious note of land encroachment complaints, he instructed authorities to initiate strict legal action, emphasising that land belonging to poor families must be safeguarded at all costs.
The chief minister also called for coordinated efforts between the revenue and police departments for effective redressal of the problems of people, the officials said.
For those seeking financial aid for medical treatment, Adityanath assured that no treatment would be halted due to a lack of funds. He asked officials to expedite the cost estimation process and submit it to the government for prompt financial support.
"Officers must always prioritise public welfare and ensure timely redressal of every genuine concern," he said.
At the event held outside the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan, the chief minister walked up to the people seated on chairs and assured them that their issues would be resolved on priority.
Responding to a woman without a ration card, he instructed officials to address her case sensitively and ensure she also receives pension benefits if eligible.

Born in Uttarakhand's Almora, Pant was an active participant in the freedom movement and had emerged as one of its tallest leaders.
After Independence, he became the first chief minister of the United Provinces following India's first general elections.

Adityanath was addressing public grievances during his Janata Darshan at Gorakhnath temple, where he met around 200 people seated outside the Mahant Digvijaynath Smriti Bhavan.
The CM asserted that the state government is determined to ensure justice and bring prosperity to every citizen.
Directing officials to work on immediately freeing encroached land belonging to the poor, he said, "No one who tries to harass the weak will be spared. Such people must be taught a lesson under the law." He assured them that no injustice would be tolerated and handed over petitions to officials with instructions for swift and satisfactory redressal.
When a woman complained of her land being illegally occupied by local strongmen, Adityanath immediately ordered police and revenue officials to intervene and take action.
&ldquo;Encroachments must be removed without delay. Ensure that no one dares to grab anyone's land again,&rdquo; he said.
Several visitors also sought financial aid for medical treatment on which they were assured by the chief minister that lack of funds would not stall anyone's healthcare.
Adityanath instructed officials to expedite the process of preparing medical estimates and forward them to the state government at the earliest.
He also directed that all cases related to revenue and police be handled with transparency, fairness, and sensitivity.
To a woman present with her daughter, he advised: &ldquo;Get your daughter admitted to school. Everything there is free.&rdquo;&nbsp;

Yogi Adityanath underlined that the reform would boost the spirit of Swadeshi and self-reliance while driving demand across sectors such as automobiles, consumer durables, and construction, thereby creating lakhs of jobs.
Under the new framework, GST has been simplified into two slabs&mdash;5% and 18%. Essential commodities will remain under the 5% category, while a limited set of luxury items will attract up to 40% tax. Food, medicines, and educational materials placed in the 0&ndash;5% bracket are expected to reduce household expenditure, improve purchasing power for middle- and lower-income families, and stimulate consumption.
The Chief Minister said the reform will not only simplify taxation but also accelerate India&rsquo;s growth story, helping the country progress toward becoming a global economic powerhouse.
CM Yogi added, "This reform will empower farmers, women, youth, MSMEs, and small traders alike. Provisions such as faster refunds and easier registration will provide strong support to small entrepreneurs and startups, further elevating the Ease of Doing Business in India."
He also highlighted that resolving the inverted duty structure, addressing classification disputes, and ensuring a transparent tax regime would strengthen business confidence. With consensus achieved between the Centre and states, he said, the reform is both comprehensive and widely acceptable.
Pointing to economic progress under the current government, Yogi Adityanath noted that wholesale inflation has been reduced to below 2% in recent years. He said the new GST reforms will accelerate demand and consumption, making the economy stronger, more stable, and more inclusive.

He listened patiently to their grievances and instructed officials to ensure speedy and satisfactory resolution, while also seeking feedback from complainants on the action taken, according to an official statement.
Cases presented before the chief minister included issues related to police, revenue, housing, medical aid, education, employment, and infrastructure, it stated.
Among them, 15 were related to land disputes, six to police matters, four to drainage and roads, and four to financial assistance, it added.
"The chief minister forwarded their applications to the concerned departments and directed officials to act promptly. He also assured complainants that their concerns would be addressed," the statement noted.
During the interaction, the CM also spent time with children who had accompanied their parents. He enquired about their education, blessed them, and distributed chocolates.
The chief minister reiterated that "solving people's problems and ensuring the prosperity of Uttar Pradesh remains the government's foremost priority".

The BJP on Thursday alleged that the incident took place during Gandhi's Yatra in Darbhanga district, where some unidentified people were purportedly heard abusing Modi from a stage erected along the route.
A video clip of the incident has gone viral, though PTI could not independently verify its authenticity.
The BJP has accused Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav of being "behind the use of such filthy language" and said the campaign has "crossed all limits of insult, hate and tastelessness".

The post further read, "Maharaj Ji has directed the district administration officials to expedite the proper treatment of the injured and relief operations. Maharaj Ji has prayed to Lord Mahadev, the Supreme Deity, to grant salvation to the departed souls and a speedy recovery to the injured."
The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 am on Thursday when a large number of devotees had gathered for darshan on the third Monday of the holy month of Sawan. A live electric wire reportedly fell onto a tin shed on the temple premises, triggering a stampede-like situation. Two people died, and over 30 others sustained injuries after coming in contact with the wire.
Those injured were immediately taken to the Community Health Centres in Haidergarh and Trivediganj for treatment. The district administration and police launched swift rescue and relief measures at the site.
The incident has cast a shadow over the ongoing Sawan festivities, with authorities now focused on preventing similar mishaps during large public gatherings at religious sites.

Speaking in support of the Shiva devotees at a seminar on tribal icon Birsa Munda, the chief minister said those who seek to defame the kanwar 'yatris' are the same people who tried to separate the tribal community from India.
"They conspired at every level to make them fight against India. This is the same community that always insults the faith of India and these are the same people who today want to create a situation of caste conflict by creating fake accounts on social media platforms," Adityanath said.
The chief minister said the everyone from society, from the working classes to the upper classes, is associated with the yatra.
"There is a wonderful confluence of unity. No discrimination. There is no distinction of caste, no distinction of region, no distinction of class, no difference of opinion, no difference of sect, they go chanting 'Har Har Bam Bam'. They walk 300-400 kilometres, then take water from there, put the kanwar on their shoulders and walk back in the same way with the same devotion," Adityanath said.

Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Purnima, is observed across Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain communities in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and other regions. The day commemorates the birth of Maharishi Ved Vyasa, the revered sage who compiled the Vedas and authored the Mahabharata. He is honoured as the Adi Guru, or the original teacher.
For Buddhists, the day marks Lord Buddha&rsquo;s first sermon at Sarnath, which laid the foundation of the Sangha. In Jain tradition, it commemorates the initiation of Gautam Swami by Lord Mahavira.

Leading this green initiative at the district level was Sonbhadra, which emerged as the frontrunner among all 75 districts of UP by successfully planting an impressive 1,58,88,285 saplings, according to a press statement.
Following Sonbhadra's exemplary lead were Jhansi (99.51 lakh), Lakhimpur Kheri (96.75 lakh), Jalaun (95.66 lakh) and Mirzapur (70 lakh), securing the subsequent top positions.
Among government departments, the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change spearheaded the drive, planting a remarkable 14.05 crore saplings. The Rural Development Department also made a substantial impact, securing second place with over 13.12 crore saplings, largely contributing to rural greening efforts.
The Agriculture Department (4.15 crore), Horticulture Department (1.55 crore) and Panchayati Raj Department (1.16 crore) rounded out the top five departmental contributors.
The species primarily chosen for this extensive plantation drive included Sheesham with 4.45 crore saplings, followed closely by teak (4.32 crore), jamun (1.84 crore), Arjun (1.61 crore) and guava (1.53 crore).
In addition to these, a significant number of medicinal and fruit-bearing plants, such as mango, guava, jamun, drumstick and neem, were also widely planted, aiming to enhance both ecological and economic sustainability.
This unparalleled drive marks a pivotal step in realising the dream of a "Green UP", fostering not only environmental conservation but also contributing to the state's long-term ecological and economic well-being.
The massive public participation and the record-breaking numbers signify a growing environmental consciousness across UP, the statement said.&nbsp;
