Netflix&rsquo;s new docu-series &lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo;, which traces the origins and influence that filmmaker Yash Chopra and his studio Yash Raj Films (YRF) have on Indian cinema, released on Valentine&rsquo;s Day. A day later, filmmaker Karan Johar penned a heartfelt note after the binge-watching the four-part series. He reflected on the legacy of Yash Chopra and the current state of the Hindi film industry.

I realised the purity, the innocence and the conviction we all collectively had&hellip;is so lost today for most of us&hellip;. Karan added that he has always been &lsquo;deeply inspired&rsquo; by the story of Yash Raj Films and &lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo; made him aware of his &lsquo;strengths and failings&rsquo;. The filmmaker also thanked Smriti Mundhra for putting together the docu-series.

Netflix has shared the new promo for the docu-series 'The Romantics' featuring Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurana and Kajol.

Netflix has unveiled the new promo for the docu-series 'The Romantics' in which Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurana shared their memories with the viewers' all-time favorite 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge'&nbsp; while Kajol talked about her experience shooting for 'DDLJ'. Sharing the promo, Netflix wrote, 'It's been almost 3 decades but DDLJ still lives in our minds rent-free!!'
In the video, Ranbir Kapoor said the film has been the defining film of their generation. He said, 'DDLJ has been the defining film of our generation! I can't even tell you that feeling is still alive inside me. It Influenced the way I dressed. It influenced the way I spoke to a girl. It influenced how I was with my parents&hellip; everything!'
Ayushmann Khurrana talked about 'DDLJ' and said 'I was, like, in the film. I want to just go inside and just be one of the characters in the film.' Talking about her shooting experience Kajol added, 'Oh my God! The breeze was supposed to be blowing this way, but the breeze was blowing in the wrong direction. And it was so hot.'
&lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo;- a four-part docu-series is a tribute to legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra and his production house Yash Raj Films. Cinema lovers remember filmmaker Yash Chopra as the &lsquo;King of Romance&rsquo;. In his career spanning five decades, he gave us multiple hit romantic films that set a template for the next generation of filmmakers. Besides his legendary love stories, the filmmaker is also known for taking up taboo themes.
His 1959 film &lsquo;Dhool Ka Phool&rsquo; spoke about an illegitimate child, while his next, &lsquo;Dharmputra&rsquo;, focused on the Hindi-Muslim dynamic. &lsquo;Waqt&rsquo;, his first colour film, was the first multi-starrer. Yash Chopra&rsquo;s &lsquo;Ittefaq&rsquo; (1969) was India&rsquo;s first song-less film when no one could imagine cinema without songs.
Yash Chopra founded his own production company, Yash Raj Films, in 1970 and its first production was &lsquo;Daag: A Poem of Love&rsquo; (1973), a successful melodrama about a man living with two women.
He&rsquo;s the one who managed to cast Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan and Rekha in 'Silsila' together.

The Aditya Chopra directorial is one of the longest-running films as it screened for over 1200 weeks in Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai.
One of the most iconic scenes of the film is when Raj helped Simran catch the train which marked the beginning of their love story. Almost every song of this movie is associated with some aspect of people's love stories today.

The trailer gives us a glimpse into three generations of actors who have worked and flourished in their career by working under the YRF banner. Actors Rishi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji, Ranbir Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan, Bhumi Pednekar and Ranveer Singh are among many who talk about the late filmmaker <a href="https://www.editorji.com/entertainment-news/bollywood/the-romantics-netflix-announces-docu-series-to-celebrate-filmmaker-yash-chopra-s-legacy-1675164817135">Yash Chopra</a> and his son Aditiya Chopra.

Netflix has announced a four-part docu-series titled &lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo; to celebrate the movies of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra and his production house Yash Raj Films. The docu-series will feature 35 leading voices of Indian cinema, including superstars who have closely worked with YRF through its existence, and dive into the history of Bollywood through the lens of YRF&rsquo;s impact in making Bollywood and it&rsquo;s leading stars a household name globally, the streamer said in a release.
The trailer of &lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo; will release on February 1 and the documentary will premiere on Netflix on February 14 as a tribute to Yash Chopra.
The filmmaker is behind iconic Bollywood films like &lsquo;Silsila&rsquo;, &lsquo;Lamhe&rsquo;, &lsquo;Kabhi Kabhie&rsquo;, &lsquo;Veer-Zaara&rsquo;, &lsquo;Dil To Pagal Hai&rsquo;, &lsquo;Chandni&rsquo; and &lsquo;Jab Tak Hai Jaan&rsquo;.

'Chandni' was a romantic musical with all the hallmarks of aYashChoprafilm. A heroine-oriented, romantic, emotional film with melodious songs shot at picturesque foreign locations.

Yet while dealing with an obsessive stalker, Chopra's heroine never loses focus of the right and the wrong. She remains steadfast in hatred of her stalker, who is ultimately killed.
Madhuri Dixit Nene | Dil Toh Pagal Hai
In the 1997 romantic drama, 'Dil Toh Pagal Hai', Madhuri played Pooja, who believed that 'someone, somewhere was made for her.'
Chopra introduces this conflict with the imaginary character of Maya, that Rahul, played by Shah Rukh often conjures up as 'the ideal woman.'
When he finds Pooja, a woman in flesh identical to Maya, he finds that impossible to fathom.

Yash&nbsp;Raj&nbsp;Films Chairman and filmmaker&nbsp;Aditya Chopra penned a heartfelt note remembering his father and legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra on YRF's&nbsp;50th anniversary.&nbsp;
Sharing the note on Instagram,&nbsp;Aditya recalled how his father took the huge risk of starting YRF&nbsp;in 1970, leaving the comfort and security of his brother BR Chopra's production house.
Aditya&nbsp;added that his father did not know how to run a business, all he had was a strong belief in his talent and it was his conviction that gave birth to Yash Raj Films.
Yash&nbsp;Chopra was the recipient of&nbsp;six&nbsp;National Film Awards, the&nbsp;Dadasaheb Phalke Award&nbsp;in 2001,&nbsp;Padma Bhushan&nbsp;in 2005 and British Academy of Film and Television Arts&nbsp;presented him with a lifetime membership, making him the first Indian to receive the honour.

Pamela Chopra was a playback singer, film producer, and writer. Pamela crooned songs for several hit films, including ‘Kabhie Kabhie’, ‘Chandni’, ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’, and ‘Mujhse Dosti Karoge!’.

Legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra's wife Pamela Chopra, who was last seen in &lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo;, died at the age of 74 on April 20. As per reports, she passed away due to age-related illnesses. Pamela was reportedly admitted to Mumbai&rsquo;s Lilavati hospital for the past 15 days and was on the ventilator.
Pamela Chopra was actively involved in the music of films made by her husband. She was a playback singer, film producer, and writer. Pamela crooned songs for several hit films, including &lsquo;Kabhie Kabhie&rsquo;, &lsquo;Noorie&rsquo;, &lsquo;Kaala Patthar&rsquo;, &lsquo;Silsila&rsquo;, &lsquo;Chandni&rsquo;, &lsquo;Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge&rsquo;, and &lsquo;Mujhse Dosti Karoge!&rsquo;.
She has also been credited as the writer for &lsquo;Kabhie Kabhie&rsquo;, and costume designer for films like &lsquo;Silsila&rsquo; and &lsquo;Sawaal&rsquo;.
Yash Chopra married Pamela in 1970. They were blessed with two sons, Uday, and Aditya Chopra.
During her recent appearance in &lsquo;The Romantics&rsquo;, Pamela Chopra talked about Yash Chopra&rsquo;s journey as a director and how he managed to make films despite facing a tough time at the box office.
